I have no idea myself. I don't really know anything about the artifact (or any similar surviving ones), I just thought it was cool as a gamer. :) I vaguely remember it being described as a "20-sided gaming die" that was used for either gambling or fortune telling.

Speaking of which, doesn't the magic 8-ball use an icosahedron as well? It's been a while since I've seen one.

Well, the old, "Sticks and stones..." saw comes to mind, but...

Epithets are hurtful only if there is truly strong discrimination accompanying them and/or those being so identified are negatively influenced by them.

What you note regarding nerds and geeks running the world has some truth to it, and that will become moreso as time goes by.

In any case, I think the whole thing is quite amusing, and the manner in which Sync handled the subject shows clearly that it was not derogatory but humorous and very much a left-handed compliment to all concerned.
