Huh? Was what? Are you meaning who said government payment was free? The comic is suggesting it -- government will pay for something so Mr. White doesn't have to. I don't see any straw man argument in my post. There's not even an argument in my post.goldomark said:Who said it was? Nice strawman.
When it's healthcare of the canadian or scandinavian variant, yes it is.. to the person getting treated. Which was the point. Of course its not free for the society as a whole. It's society creating a pool of resources with which to combat healthcare issues, and then dipping into that pool when people get sick. It's only unfair if you never get sick, but then you'd never get sick. But people really need to realize that government paying for stuff isn't free.
I took the comic strip to be a commentary on society as a whole. Reference the strip title, plus: "What kind of barbaric society...". So, as we agree, not free.jonesy said:Of course its not free for the society as a whole.
I guess you want to see what you want to see in the comic and argue against that. I didn't see what you thought you saw, same for Jonesy. Meh.Huh? Was what? Unless I've misunderstood your very vague response. (Quite possible.)

Well, yeah. Or money he's been slowly putting into the system every workday up to that point. And every future workday he will continue to have because he isn't dead.Where does government get the money to pay his medical bills? Oh, right, from other persons' wealth.
