Breaking into the biz - Fan to publishing

First Post
I'm probably way off-topic, but here goes.

I'm a big D&D fan who was recently introduced to Living Greyhawk and who really wants to do so much more than play the game. I'm fascinated with the whol creation of encounters and ideas. The problem I currently have is a lack of structure, as in good models to base creations from. I'm also completely unaware of how to take a great potential D&D module and make it a d20 module for publication, since I love some of the prestige classes and so on, and don't know what's really outside WotC (hence, I'm a big dork).

Anyway, does anyone have recommendations as to good d20 modules for me to look at, and are there any publishers who would be interested in looking at fan material with the aim of converting it to publish?

Any and all help is appreciated!

Probably one of the best places to look for a model is Dungeon Magazine and their submissions guidelines. You can download a PDF of the guidelines from the WotC site. Other publishers might have their own distinctive style guides so you should check their sites. Still, I figure you're pretty safe shopping around your module if it matches the Dungeon mag format.

Well, we don't pay, and are 'just' a fansite, but since you have a stated interest in Living Greyhawk, I'd like to invite you to stop by http://www.canonfire.com
We're always open to new material from the greyhawk fans, and IMO it gives a great opportunity to hone your skills in design and writing while playing with material you enjoy.
We also boast a readership of over 1000 registered members and in the ballpark of 10,000 visitors a month (ok, so we're not wotc or enworld, but those are still respectable numbers.).
So please check us out, and if you have any questions, feel free to contact me at richadmin@canonfire.com
Good luck with whatever projects you take on!
