This has been said before, Buffy's death will not activate another slayer. Faith's death will.kreynolds said:Now, there is one thing that's getting me about this whole killing of the potential slayers thing. First of all, who are the current slayers? Buffy and Faith, of course. What happens when either one dies? A new one takes their place, so if you kill all the candidates, only one slayer left (either Buffy or Dawn, whichever doesn't get the axe). The interesting part is that its obvious nobody knows who exactly the next slayer will be, which is precisely why they're killing all of them.

KnowTheToe said:If they did kill Giles it would be the lamest character death ever. You can't just sneak up on a main character and kill him with a single blow. Only George RR Martin can pull that off. If Giles was going to die you would want to milk it for all it is worth and that was not done.

I read a nasty theory on another board: it'd be just like Joss to not show Giles at all for the next several episodes, leave the cliffhanger hangin'. When Giles finally shows up, he shows up in Sunnydale with no explanation of how that battle ended, leaving us fans unsure whether it's Giles, or the Big Bad impersonating Giles, or something even more sinister.
