Buckler plus 2h-weapon

I don't have a problem with 2HF with Bucklers until Imp Buckler Defense comes into play. Then it's a problem.
Why?

You can get a buckler +3 for 9,000 gp, so with Imp. Buckler Defense, that's +4 AC for -1 to attacks.

You could get an animated heavy shield +1 for 9,000, so that's +3 to AC. Take Combat Expertise instead of IBD, and that could be +4/-1. Or you could just go with +3/+0 and spend the feat elsewhere.

IMO, more people buy animated shields than take Improved Buckler Defense.

Of course, you could very well say that animated shields are also a problem...

It's just too good for non-existent entry requirements- I've seen it in play and thought it went too far. I was the player in fact. 2HF should have some drawback. Each fighting style should have it's niche and this infringes too much on the sword and boarder.

Right. No animated bucklers here. Neither. Whatever.

And about the realismthing: I don't mind, D&D is fun... yet I never understood why they made a buckler (that was supposed to be used for shieldbashes) with which you cannot bash and a heavy shield ... with which shield bashes aren't that funny... ah well. Gimme trolls.

Just an FYI, in the latest issue of Dragon (#357), the Sage answers this question. Does the feat apply to wielding a two-handed weapon? His words: "Not according to a strict reading of the feat's description."

Thank gawd the Sage is only reading the feat description, & not the write-up of the item the feat was designed for. Wait... what?
