Buffy: 1/21/03 (Spoilers)

No, they haven't said that on the show, and in fact seem to be operating on the assumption that when Buffy dies, one of these girls will be activated. But Faith is slated to be in several episodes later this season (maybe late Feb. sweeps?), so I think it will be cleared up when that character reappears.

Just to stray OT for a bit, did anyone else notice (for those with the DVDs) that one of the watcher's council helpers that got vampified was none other than the actor who plays Malcom Reed on Enterprise?

Yes. And the guy who played Kralik also played the Nosferatu guy in Kindred: The Embraced.

The very next episode ("The Zeppo") featured the guy who played the Gangrel leader in K:tE.

On the Xander speech, what is another word for someone who "sees" and "looks"? A watcher.

A friend and I were speaking about the future of Buffy the Series. I said I'd hate it if Dawn became the new slayer, prefering to see one of the others become a slayer instead.
But, what I think WOULD be great, is Xander and Anya taking on the role as trainer/ watchers of the new slayer.

Xander's speech was very well done, showing just how much he understands. It almost was a death speech.

I still say Dawn may already be a slayer, she is a Buffy clone when you think about it and she is not really human.

I liked the Xander speech. It was a nice touch of Drama, as opposed to Buffy's speeches lately, which have tended more to Melodrama.

I also liked when Anya mentioned how she still didn't understand that whole "Buffy Blood" thing.
:)

I also liked the part when Andrew was going on about how potential Slayerhood was an apt metaphor for becoming a woman, and having that whole line of fertility throughout the ages and all, and Xander says something like, "All right, I will PAY you to start talking about Star Wars again." :)

I actually was hoping that Dawn WAS a SIT. Its all fine and dandy that Xander has accepted his position in the group, but the group doesn't need an additional Xander.

As touching as that last speech was, Dawn really does need to develop powers, either magical or fighting. Its pretty lame that she wants to learn just about everything thast the scoobies do (magic, fighting, xanderesque "dedicated hero" stuff), but all buffy lets her do is read.

Besides, if she didn;t have latent power, why would the first have gone after her in Conversations with Dead People. Xander and Anya were not approached becuase they didnt have power. Dawn, Buffy, Spike and Willow were.

Considering that the actress who plays Anya has said that no matter what, this is her last season, that seems unlikely.

Xander, on the other hand, has become something of the father figure of the show, most noticably this season. He's a natural to become a new watcher...much more than Spike, IMHO. Of course, with only two regular male characters to choose from, it's not as hard.

That, and he gets the 'funny syphilis'. :)

I don't think Dawn is a SIT, she's the Slayer. She's Buffy, the monks made her from Buffy.

When the First said "Kill them all, but not her." She wasn't referring to Buffy, the line doesn't pass through Buffy. She was talking about Dawn.

Giles and Anya found out that Buffy being alive is what is allowing the First to attack the Slayer line. But what if it's that Buffy and Dawn both have the power, what if it's because the power is split between them that makes the line vulnerable?

I think that at the end of the season, Faith is going to die and one of the SITs will be called, but in order to solve the problem somehow they will find a way to move Buffy's power into Dawn so once again there will be two slayers, but the line will be safe.

Just speculating. :D

Hmm, Dawnie a Slayer, now? Sounds cool but she hasn't shown any of the abilities. She has no strength, very little dexterity and barely any aim. Seems like she can fight ok, as evidenced by the finale of last season but so can Xander (in a way). I'm not saying the theory is without merit because I love Dawn's character and want to them do more with her but there just aren't a ton of examples so far to support it.

But, Joss has said that the line goes through Faith, not Buffy. So, I'll harp on that again. But I always love speculations, so keep em coming. It's fun to guess what Joss is doing with the plot. :)

Early Buffy was the same way, have to accept being a slayer. Dawn does not know it and thinks too much, which makes her look like she is still normal, until something happens and fear kicks in, then she takes care of herself. I think this was shown in the show, the fight with the vampire, the moving of the file to block the door, just a bit of the slayer power.
