Buffy 4/28 - SPOILERS

So-so show. Buffy has needed the kick in the pants, she also needed to be be told to go. It was for her own good and the good of the group. While in the past she was telling Xander and Willow she was the slayer and needed to work alone, this time she does. She is having judgement issues, you can see it with the way she is treating Xander, not knowing how to deal with her feeling and injury.

She needs to take some time and be by herself and see some things, not listening to others, not try to protect others, not worrying about them, not leading them.

Good point. Do you think they will focus on Buffy, the group or an equal combination of the two?

Yes, this is sort of my theory... Caleb is getting his strength from somehow channeling the same power that the Slayer uses. Doesn't explain why he is so massivly overpowered, though, unless he is getting it "pure", whereas Buffy and Faith both have the power that has trickled down through the years. What was the description... "It is not for thee, but for she alone"?
Don't forget that Buffy was offered a lot more power by the shamans who created the first slayer, but she turned it down.

Mixed feelings about this episode. On the one hand, Buffy needed a swift kick in the posterior, and has for some time now. She's been abrasive, abusive, unappreciative and unproductive. She keeps trying to use the same tactics and blind-luck, and it's just not going to work, this time.

I feel sorry for Buffy, and I think that kicking her to the curb is incredibly stupid (and I was suprised that Xander, Giles and Willow let it happen, unless they know it's only temporary). I just hope the remaining three episodes rock...I want Buffy to go out with a Bang, not a whimper.

The real crime of this episode is that NOTHING REALLY HAPPENED. That makes sense in mid-season, perhaps, but this is episode 19. We should be amidst the roller-coaster drops and turns, not riding up the hill.

And boy, SMG must have had a really sore throat, huh?

Which was sort of my point. I understood it as the Slayer bloodline has diminished over time... a little less power with each generation. I thought the shaman was just offering to "refill the tank", so to speak. And if Caleb somehow managed to draw power from the same source, he might have gotten it in 'pure' form.

To me, the confrontation and eviction seemed incredibly abrupt and poorly done. I hope that it was a result of some sort of spell or curse by Caleb/The First, which would be better than just poor writing.

At least Angel has lots of cool stuff going on each episode. The best thing that happened here was that Spike and Andrew found something that we don't understand that may help... eventually.

Second hand smoke from having Spike and Faith in the house ;)

I think they will focus on the core group, Buffy, Willow, Xander and Giles, everyone else are supporting cast to be used to make a point, either being killed off or to provide comments. I see at least one show just on Buffy, and some wrap up of story lines for every one else.

From what I've read, the last three will be a lot better than last night's. Last night's episode was just about setting up the environment for the next three.

Yeah, I kinda figured that would be the case, but I wish that they could have bridged it better with something a little juicier, plot-wise.

Hah! Good one. I was wondering about her sore throat at the start of the episode... I thought it might have been a wound from when Caleb grabbed her throat... but I'm sure it was just SMG.

So from what I gathered from the episode, it was Caleb's plan to make Buffy charge in with all the troops. So Buffy was falling into the trap ... but the other SITs and Scoobies stopped her. That all works...

... except when they throw her out of the house! Whaaaa? And why would Dawn do that? "It's my house, too." Whatever.

I'm with ya'll... seems like the writing has really suffered. They're just trying to end the series and move things along, I guess.

And the previews for next week (and the weeks to come) showed Buffy with a big sword... I HOPE that Joss's big solution to the First isn't some magical Holy Avenger. That's lame.
