Buffy [5-May-03]

I found the episode boring and full o0f unneeded filler. The worst as always is Kennedy, it seems no one can see that she's after power. Of course at this point it is doubtful it willever come to any meaning, so more useless filler.

I just wish everyone would cut some slack. Everyone is griping about how this sucks and it hasnt been the same. Well ya know what. Bite it or dont watch. You keep coming back every week. if it hasnt been the same in so many years, what make syou think this one episode will make it better.

As I mentioned, I enjoyed this episode, but that said.
For myself, I tune in because I like the setting, I like the Buffyverse. I tune in to see what happens.
I'm really not too keen on most of the characters anymore though, and the individual plots I find lacking.

and it's not a matter of "they aren't like they used to be!" because if they just kept doing the same plot, it'd be tedious. I notice people also complain about elements of the show that HAVE become redundant.

When Buffy saw her mom's ghost, she said she needed to rest. After finally getting a good nights sleep, Buffy managed to get the axe!
See, it all makes sense now!

Caleb could have taken out Xander. I was hoping there'd be something there, but there's not. Only what, 2 ep's left and Xander really did just lose an eye, that's it. No rhyme, no reason.

Most of the people that are complaing, do so because they REALLY like the show, and wish it still gave them the feeling that it used to. For myself, I'm not complaining about the show, I'm complaining about the lose of inspiration that I once got from it.
YMMV.

Great Ending

I thought the ending was great!

Spike spends the night with Buffy. Buffy goes off and dodges the super-strong bad guy and finds the legendary artifact. Faith leads the others into a deathtrap.

Perfect ending.

Okay, I have been watching the FX reruns and they are about the time the First shows up. Last week I told you about Buffy's line to Xander "Did your mommy every tell you, it is fun and games until someone looses an eye".

Well, last nights (7 to 8) on was most about Xander looking for 'cool' and being with a four dead guys, Xander and Faith have sex and the hellmouth opens. A very good show but back to my point, the bomb that Xander gets the lead of the dead guys to defuse stopped at 8 seconds! Now, that bomb and the one in this week show looked the same!

Okay, I am starting to see a pattern here!

It was a good ending, there is no denying that.

As far as the show not being as good as the first few seasons, what shows are? As a writer it is hard to keep viable interesting plots going year after year especially with this style show where you have to worry about consistancy in powers, abilities and sci-fi/fantasy rules you have established early on.

Joss clearly had no idea what to do with Xander after HS because Xander has had no real role, a few episodes here and there, but no consistancy. Kennedy has a larger role and for no apparent reason. Giles is another great character who has had no function or play in this season. I emphasis this because I believe these characters and actors should get a chance to shine.

I watch the show because I loved it so much the first 3-4 seasons. This show broke ground in all kinds of new areas and met a wide demographic of viewers. It is still decent, but nowhere near what it was. Over time the viewers also change, less things about the show surprise us or seem dynamic. For me it started in season 5 (i believe) when Buffy (the character) became depressed and brooding and never recoverd, she stayed unhappy brooding Buffy for the 5-7 seasons.

Toe, I'm with you on Kennedy. Hate her. She's a spoiled, brash brat, and nowhere near good enough for Willow. And her pre-sex speech came out of nowhere for her character. It was exactly the thing Will needed to hear, and would have drawn tears had Tara said it. But nothing Kennedy has ever done or said leads me to believe that she has that kind of sensitivity or perception, let alone level of emotional giving.

I know they probably won't kill another Willow lover, but I really wouldn't care if she bit it.

You know, what worries me the most about the upcoming battle isn't The First, it's the fact that Spike and Angel are going to have to have it out for Buffy's love! TWO vampires with souls!!! But Spike's gotta win... why? He can actually have sex with her! Should be fun times.

Oh, and I love Kennedy. She finally makes the lesbian make-out scenes with Willow worth watching.

Spike's gotta win cause he loved her even without a soul. Funny how Angel's two completely different people, whereas most things about Spike didn't change when he got his soul back. The clip in the preview that shows Buffy kissing Angel annoys me.

Been running with this thought about the reruns from FX, well Friday night Faith and Buffy are running wild, in class Buffy is taking about what a great time they had and notices Xander's eye twiches everytime she says Faith's name, he even covers it up! It was the left eye, the one gone!

See, there is a pattern!

I'm not even sure why Buffy is still hung up on him. I mean really, she hasn't seen him in years, and has had a few guys since.

I also think the Angel/ Cordelia thing kind of invalidates the Angel/ Buffy thing somewhat.

Though, I always hated the idea that they would cast the same Curse on Angel each time. Why can't they research a Soul Spell that doesn't flicker off whenever he's happy? Why doesn't he go on the quest that Spike did?

Spike's an incurable romantic, therefor, he's doomed.
