Build me a Weapon of Legacy

Help an overworked DM! I'd like to make a weapon of legacy based on Nyctophobos from The Game Mechanics' Artifacts of the Ages. However, I haven't had a chance to really get comfortable with WoL yet. Is there an enterprising DM out there with some time on his/ her hands who could help me out?

I'm looking at the possibility of giving it the Shadow Companion ability like a Shadowdancer, rather than the Shadow Touch/ Shadow Grip ability it has now.

Er... I've flipped through the book, and I'm totally unfamiliar with your source material, but the one thing I'd like to bring up is:

- Are you aware that a WoL has a penalty associated with it? They gain cool powers, but also have incredible penalties/detriments associated with them. I'm going to start using them in my Ravenloft campaign (I have a couple of dual-bladed ritual Athame's which will do nicely as WoL) but I don't know if you're looking for something with that kind of cost.

If you are, I'd be more than happy to share any research I get done with you tomorrow and see if it helps you along.
