Building a character specialized in electricity?

Someone in my campaign wanted to do this very thing. I accomodated him in two ways:

1. I let him take the spell thematics feat and apply it to spells without increasing the casting time (he's a sorcerer). Certainly a benefit but not an incredibly powerful one

Spell Thematics isn't a Metamagic feat so it wouldn't increase his casting time to begin with or change the spell level. It's automatically applied to all his spells.

I will note that Energy Substitution Does Not Split Damage.

Energy ADMIXTURING is the feat you're thinking of. It combines two kinds of energy damage. It also is +4 levels to a spell.

The Lace spell works with area effects? Woah. Did not know that.

I always liked Cold, Acid, or Sonic focused characters, but an electrical one would be just as good. Perhaps a sorceror who is a direct decendant of a Blue dragon? Since it's right there in his veins, why not? Perhaps have him a little out there, or twitchy (I'm reminded of an NPC Cleric of Talos I did).

Wow. You're right. The funny thing is I remember specifically looking it up to see if it was and then said to myself "oh well, I'll have to make an exception." Doh!
