I don't see why.

PC: "Dear Hephaestus, could you send one of your firey minions to help me out? I'd like to request a small service of him."

Hephaestus: "Dear PC, here is [Crackling flame noise], one of my trusted servitors. Deal fairly with him."

PC: "Hello, [Crackling flame noise]. Would you mind standing here for just a couple moments? I'll give you this shiny bauble in return for a few moments of your time."

[Crackling flame noise]: "Uh, okay."

PC: "You're mine now, biotch! You will serve as my mentally-controlled slave until I choose to release you; give me back that shiny bauble. Now, go, fight my enemies until you perish!"

...

PC: "Dear Hephaestus, could you send one of your firey minions to help me out? I'd like to request a small service of him."

Hephaestus: "Dear PC, you broke faith with the being whose services I loaned to you. You have frivolously reduced my power. I think you're on your own for this one."

Why not:
PC: "Dear <deity>, please send me a minion that I may do with as I wish."
<Deity>: "Dear PC, Sure, take this guy who's been serving my rival." OR
<Deity>: "Dear PC, Sure, take this guy who betrayed me/has failed me/I don't like/I was about to smite him anyway but since you asked, have a go."

If the PC is upfront in the request, at worse he'll get a "Sorry, try again later".

Yeah, I don't see this spell as allowing your patron to send a rival's minions to you.

That goes against the whole, "Request help and then pay for it" aspect of the spell.
