Calling creatures and stealing their stuff

I didn't say how long it took the Outsiders to figure it out. Might have been after 10 or 12 attempts, maybe more. That part isn't in the books (at least the common ones). And who put the info in the books anyway? It's not like anyone would have been left alive after an assult like that.

Personally, I'd say the Pit Fiend made a quick attempt at making sure no one ever tried it again. He put the story out, dropped it in a bunch of textbooks and made a few miner deals to help the story spread.

It didn't take long before a few of the Rights for Outsiders groups got into it and used it as an example (though not explicetly) of Anti-Outsider sentiment or Outsiderism.

I think I'd let my players make Knowledge (Arcana, Religion, Planes) or Bardic Knowledge checks to recall mention of this being tried before.

It's worth noting that such a story could lead to an excursion into the Abyss in an attempt to rescue Thanee's soul. Just make sure there aren't any Dwarves in your party. ;)
Annoying to read (colour wise)... but excellent none the less!

Hehe, yeah, the color was very brilliantly chosen, indeed. ;)

Anyways, if you were a DM and one of your players would actually try that (i.e. call Erinye and steal her magic bow (by allowing her freedom in exchange or by simply killing her, since then she cannot later seek revenge (for the pragmatic ones))).

Would you let him get away with it? Once? Multiple times?

How would you explain, that someone would actually come after the PC for being that cocky, and not after the zillions of wizards that enslave demons and devils for various tasks?

Devils are all about organization... and when some Pit Fiend starts loosing his nightly "enterainment" (Erinyes), he's going to start asking questions.

That's what I get for using the WISIWIG editor and doing a cut'n paste to Word for spellcheck.

Should work fine now.
