Campaign Settings...

It already is! The IKCG's been out for a while now, and it's 3.5

AU is definately worth it, but I agree the waiting for AE would be good. Except for the Parry Magic ability, unfettered work wonderfully in IK.
I'm more of a mageblade fan. That or Greenbond turned Darkbond.

(Really I wanna see what Monte does with dragons in AE. So far I've seen zippo on either them or outsiders. I just want some cool ones in the Throne.)

In about two weeks I am starting an IK campaign and the sorcery and steam aspect of it is what the major pull was for for me. Some of the campaign worlds that were discussed here all seem really cool to me but I hd to pick one and IK made the final cut for me.

Second place would have been either Eberron or Scarred Lands.

Oathbound is high fantasy but not necessarily high magic. There is ample opportunity for adventure of epic proportions and scale with a grand backstory metaplot that is one huge mystery in need of solving. If you dislike magic, there is no better mechanism to start your players on your terms in Oathbound. It's called the Sifter. When characters are brought into the Forge, it strips them of all magic items. Living in the Forge is all about maximizing your potential and becoming your best without relying on tons of magic to do it for you. If you have a soft spot for Dark Sun or Planescape, you'll probably enjoy Oathbound because it shares many of the same traits: edgy, attitude, and adventurous. Seriously, take a second look before you write it off. Every campaign setting you mention has strong undercurrents of magic. If you dislike magic, then you will not be 100% happy with any of them. You will have to work at taking the magic out of the setting.

The only two settings I am aware of where magic is not affluent is Kingdoms of Kalamar and Red Spire Press' new world (only the Player's Guide is currently available).

What about Conan? There is magic, but it's use makes you a Bad Guy. Also, the mechanics support character advancement in the absense of magic items.

John: Yeah, but it's the only one. I know I can convert the monsters in the Monsternomicon easily enough, but I'm a lazy bastard.

Edit: Part of the reason I'm not creating up my own campaign setting.

Nightfall: I wrote off Scarred Lands from my personal choices before I even posted up this topic.

Goodman's Brontosaurus Rex was possibly the first setting without any magic at all.

Doesn't mean you can't write it back in! :D I mean come on! Give it a shot! If you don't have fun with it, then you can come over and shoot me. Some people will thank you.

Iron Kingdoms isn't even in the running because as soon as it's 3.5 upgraded, I'm all over it. Not too long ago I decided to invest in a single miniatures game, and in my area it was almost entire Warhammer, with a minor following of Warmachine. One quick look at Warhammer almost made me retch (how can people stand to play that game... So I picked up Warmachine, and I love it, and most of the players in the area who play Warmachine also play D&D, so it fits.

Well, if you are so hot on Warmachine, why isn't Iron Kingdoms what you are going to go for? It is the same setting after all.

As already stated, Iron Kingdoms Character Guide is out and done in 3.5. The World Guide will probably out soon in March 2005. With a successful line of minis, the world won't be going away and will be advanced over the years.

Despite the obvious slang of "I'm all over it", the statement does seem to imply I'm going to get it. However, as mentioned in a further post, the Character Guide is 3.5, but the Monsternomicon isn't, and even though it's realtively easy and simple to convert over, I've got two things going wrong for me. #1: I'm lazy. #2: I'm lazy and a perfectionist, can't have 3.0 stuff mixing with the 3.5, it's not right:)
