Can I apply Fiendish template to constructs?

I don't think the hardness of an animated object would stack with the DR from the template. Isn't hardness 10 treated equivalently to DR 10/-?

As an analogy, consider putting Stoneskin on a 20th-level barbarian. Innately, he has DR 4/-; the spell grants DR 10/+5. Against someone with a +5 weapon he would have DR 4, while against anyone else he would have DR 10 (not 14). Am I right?

So if a thing already has hardness 10, adding DR 10/+3 would be pointless; it would still reduce all damage by 10.

Hardness is effective even against energy attacks.

Sort of. Hardness absorbs all, half, or none of elemental energy attacks. It depends upon the material itself and the elemental energy used against it.

Also why not have everysote from the lower planes imbued with "feindish" elements. The iron golem could be made from the iron riped from the very bowels of the Abyss. I say there is nothing wrong with giving the template to the construct.

I think I will make some fiendish undead. Animated demons and devils from the bloodwar sound pretty cool to.

Remeber you are the DM do what you want.

My 2 cents.

Yeah, I agree. I'm pretty sure it's even supported by the rules, as stated by others, but even if it wasn't, it's too cool NOT to do.

I had Fiendish Flesh golems created with demon parts IMC. It was neat.

Having DR and Hardness doesn't sound that bad, as long as you don't stack them. Just give the critter the better of the two for the given situation.

Also, post the stats for that when you get the chance. Sounds pretty cool.

No according to the Sage you cannot put the fiendish or celestial template's on constructs.... you MAY however use the half-dragon template, its a well documented fact that dragons are inordinately fertile and randy.:D

Right, so after the stone golem and the dragon did the nasty.. who gave birth to the offspring now? Did the dragon hatch a rock, or did the rock just have a pervy creator who decided that fully modeled sexual organs were 'in' this season?

Heck with that Sage ruling. As a DM you want a Fiendish Golem, go for it. Say it was made with Baatorian Green Steel mixed in or something.. perfect justification right there. Granted, not everything would make sense, but that's the GMs job to make things fit. You want a Fiendish Golem? Cool. It's a temple guardian for yuan-ti. Makes sense. You want a Vampiric Flesh Golem with Rogue levels? That's fine too, just make some way for it to fit in with your game.

Its only when you start introducing Lycanthropic Half-Dragon Fiendish Lich Golems that things become silly. But not a moment before. :D

That Sage ruling thing...... it was a joke.

Ha Ha? Oh well I think one of you almost got it. You did note the Grinning Happy Face, right?
