Can I be my own enemy?

When a target entry specifies that it affects you and one or more of your allies, then you can take advantage of the power's effect along with your teammates. Otherwise, "ally" or "allies" does not include you, and both terms assume willing targets. "Enemy" or "enemies" means a creature or creatures that aren't your allies (whether those creatures are hostile toward you or not).

The first and second lines indicate that unless specified, a character does not fall into the category of his own "allies." The third line basically defines "enemies" as non-allies. Does this mean that a character can be his own enemy?

You can argue that the text says that. You might win that argument. But if one of my players tried to argue that, I'd tell them to leave after I finish rolling on the ground laughing.

This has been discussed before, though.

I'm not sure I fully understand. If a player opts to treat themselves as an enemy, you would kick him out for that? There are already many cases where party members can hurt themselves (aoe that just has "targets"). It's not a new idea to make a trade off of eating the negative effect of a power for some advantage.

Personal opinions aside, do you have a link to where this has been discussed?
