Can you Cleave after your Whirlwind?

Okay then - team smackdown

team member 1 whirlwind, great cleave, and spiked chain

Team member 2 sumon monster 6 or some such.

team member 1 has the target within her threat range and delays until team member 2 drops a whole hoard of celestial badgers lets see ... 14 of them. to fill up the rest of team member 1's threatened area.

am I missing something?

Just how your DM deals with giving you an extra attack "against another creature in the immediate vicinity"... as quoted from the cleave feat.

Yes. That point is the "bucket o' snails" argument and is older than dirt. It will also gain you an immediate (more or less) alignment change if you are a good character in any of my games.

Note that spiked chain is no better than any other weapon for this example, as Whirlwind Attack specifically limits you to one attack per opponent within 5'. The spiked chain's range is of no use in Whirlwind Attack. The ELH, I believe, has an improved version of Whirlwind Attack which allows one attack per creature within your threat range.
