D&D 5E Can your Druids wear metal armor?

No, they can't.

If a vegetarian chooses to eat meat they aren't a vegetarian. It's a contradiction.
That’s just not how the world works. Real vegetarians in real life do occasionally eat meat. Not regularly, but sometimes someone cooks spinach puffs with bacon bits in them you don’t want to be rude. Or sometimes you make the call to have an ethically raised and slaughtered turkey for Thanksgiving. Real people are not 100% consistent.

Because, again, my character isn't such a zealot that they would let their friends die rather than break a taboo that they have taken on by choice.
Right? It's just odd that RAW (and by extension, the GM??) disallows the player from making their character declare that within the game world; and instead just somehow nopes it right out of existence before the thought even germinates in the character's brain.

To be completely honest, I doubt that some of the hardcore RAW devotion on this particular rule/verbiage is really real. I can't believe that any remotely creative GM would allow a poorly-written half-rule to get in the way of a sincere player saying what their character does-- especially when it's so easy to make a quick ruling that advances the in-game scene and preserves the intent of the RAW.

It's strange. But I guess we're all just passionate internetters passionately internetting about a hobby we're all passionate about. So there's that. And with that, I'm done beating this dead horse*, and will just make some leather armor out of it already. ;)

* And yes, I'm totally playing a druid next chance I get!

People who eat meat aren't vegetarians.

Even people who eat only a little meat, they're still not vegetarians.

Resonance cascade, followed by the druid exploding obviously.

Now I want to go through the PHB and replace every « won’t » with « will explode »

let’s see, just for laugh. Random page (flip, flip) - p125; inspiration.

« … your DM will tell you how you can earn inspiration in the game. You either have inspiration or you will explode; you can’t stockpile multiple « inspirations » for later use. »

hehe, sounds promising

That is BS and as a matter of fact this would make it completely impossible for anyone to be a Vegan, because every single person on this planet has eaten animal products (specifically dairy) when they were infants.

Moreover to be more in context we are talking about a religion or a moral code here so saying Druids can't wear metal is like saying Christians can't fornicate or Jewish people can't work on Saturday or Aetheists can't go to church, and those who do are not Christians, Jewish and Aetheists respectively ..... but we know millions of those people actually do those things even though it is factually and objectively contrary to their moral code.

It's possible to become a vegetarian or a vegan after not being one. But if meat is still in your diet you aren't one. It's the definition.

Someone isn't a vegetarian all the times that they aren't eating meat. If that were the case we would all be vegetarians most of the time.

Wow, he actually blocked me for that. Sorry, vegetarian is a lifestyle choice and an identity. You aren’t permanently banished from the vegetarian club if you eat a chicken nugget.
Fundamentalists, puritans, rules literalists, no matter what you call them, they're missing a few scres in the head. Don't know what gets into these people that they get so worked up about defending the letter of some code or creed that they never stop to listen to the nonsense coming out of their mouths.
