I would just like to thank all the other teams whose efforts have made it possible for the Canadian & US Mens' teams to meet for the Gold, which will hopefully lead to Canada beating the US for both hockey Golds.

Really Ruvion? In all seriousness, I haven't thought the officiating was any different than normal league play. In fact, its their all NHL officials.

But, anyway I really do feel bad for our northern neighbors. I know its their national sport and all, so it going to really hurt when we send them home WITHOUT the gold!

This Gold Medal game is just gravy, guys. Really, the pressure is off now for both teams; the nasty games that truly meant something for reasons of national pride and prestige are over now, so I see no reason to not relax and just enjoy one big ol' game for the fans across the world.

And if the Russians still bitch by tomorrow, 'em.

I am just glad this match is up on sunday. Half the buisnessmen in town took extended lunch hours to watch yesterdays game against Belarus. I'd hate to see what would happen if the gold medal match between Canada and USA were on a weekday.

A nation stands still indeed. The BC economy is in rough enough shape already.

Victory will be ours.

It's funny, but Canada needs this game much more than the U.S. by a long shot. I was absolutely overjoyed that the Women's team won, not because it was the U.S. that they beat but because we needed at least something in hockey this Olympics. (Mind you I was disgusted about the U.S.A. women's team having the Canadian flag on the floor of the dressing room to walk over, no class there IMHO.) But this game means more to Canadians by a factor of a thousand at least, it's something I don't think Americans can understand about this game. If the U.S. loses it will be "Damn, oh well...." and they will move on to something else, while for Canadians it's something deep in our Psyche and identity.
