Canada VS USA

Really Ruvion? In all seriousness, I haven't thought the officiating was any different than normal league play. In fact, its their all NHL officials.

But, anyway I really do feel bad for our northern neighbors. I know its their national sport and all, so it going to really hurt when we send them home WITHOUT the gold! :D

U S A

I agree, men's officials are NHL guys. The women got shafted with the garbage refs. And, just for the record, lacrosse is our national sport.

Officially, yes. But day-to-day business doesn't slow to a crawl as everyone who can spends the afternoon watching the semi-final at work for lacrosse. The editorial cartoon in yesterday's Edmonton Sun was pretty accurate: NHL game is watched with beer & chips, Olympic medal games are watched with heart meds and an oxygen supply. Hockey really matters to a lot of Canadians; being the best at it is important to many people in the True North.

Damn, I'm playing D&D tomorrow, I'll have to record it. It should be an awesome game, if Canada picks it up a notch. They've been playing so-so, US has been kicking butt (nice to see them trashing the opposition instead of hotel rooms).

GO CANADA!

Did I hear right that Canada has not won a Gold in Olympic Hockey in 54 years? Oh the shame....:D

USA!
USA!
USA!

Actually...I find it hard to get exicted about Olympic Hockey...It is just NHL players in different uniforms...The Miracle on Ice will simply never be repeated(watching team USA whomp on Team Russia was fun last night, but it was just not the same as 1980...)

because Roy said that he didn't want to take part in the Olympics, that's why.

And the reason he did that was that they didn't name him the starting goalie right from the start, from what I've heard. Sure, he said that he wanted to take the time off to spend with family or something, but that seems more like a cover than anything else.

Anyway, it should still be a great game. Go USA!

Divination

Sorry to disappoint all of the USA fans on the boards, but I have performed the requisite rituals to ask the spirits the question "Will Canada win both Hockey golds at the Olympics this year". After being told to "Concentrate and ask again", by the spirits, I recieved answers of "It is certain", "Yes - Definately", and "Signs point to yes". So, as you can see my divinations indicate that Canada is going to win. ;)

The reason had to do with him not being chosen right from the start, yes, but only beacuse the friggin' media kept on him with the same stoopid questions so much he just said, "That's enough of that." Between the circuses he's gone through with those bogus law problems a couple years ago, and his stint in Montreal (media circus is an understatement there), I really don't blame him.

Gretz really should have included him in the orginal 8 selection, it was rather silly not to, IMO. Arguably (though it's a difficult arguement) the greatest goaltender ever, and he's left hanging.

Of course, Canada's problems hasn't been goaltending, it's been scoring. Hopefully our multi-million dollar superstars can manage to hit a wide open net if get the chance this game...

And if anyone doubts the accuracy of his divination method, I would like to mention that I have used the same method in the past, and was advised that 'OUTLOOK NOT SO GOOD'. I've been meaning to go back and ask it about Exchange Server.

OK, I'll take my computer geek humor elsewhere. :D
