Come one! Come All!

Gary Gygax's Canting Crew has come to the Troll Dens. It should be arriving in your local retailer shops this week or early next.

The good boys over at Mongoose have given you what it takes to play the Quintessential Rouge, now, Mr. Gygax brings you the world of the Rogue. In the city of Ludnum you will find examples of how to design your own city and people it with the lowest of the low: The Rogue, the Canting Crew.

This hardcase sourcebook comes complete with a 16 x 21 inch double sided flip map of the city of Ludnum; a complete dictionary of the Rogue's Cant, pictograms and hand signals and a whole lot more.

Contact your local retailer or give us a holler and we'll do it for ya!

I want my Canting Crew ;-)
Since it can be incorporated into almost any setting I wonder if my Bard needs to have a few lvl's as a rogue and see what we can do about getting CC into our campaign city Bluffside!<put in appropiate hand signal cant here>

My local game store, Games Plus got their copies in but I'm afraid that it'll have to wait a while. Like Psion, I get a little backlogged with material for review too and playing with the toys is time consuming! Still looking forward to seeing it soon though and reading some reviews. The preview in GF 2 was very nice adn the details from teh table of contents look like they mean business.

Thanks for the good word Joe. We're very proud of this product. Gary put his heart and soul into it and I think, once you look at it, you will see some improvements in formatting from the Troll Dens.

The book is definately a world building book. If your into playing Rogues, or you run a game heavy on the city side, The Canting Crew gives you a nice template for setting up the underworld and the vocab to back it up.

Look for the Companion Book, Heart of Glass, as a solid source book and adventure to use the CC with. Heart of Glass is due out in June.

Thanks again,
Steve

Now this is interesting. Heart of Glass is a adventure tied into Canting Crew? One of the things I loved about Demon God's Fane is that it uses material that Monte created. I really dislike it when a company comes up with tons of new material and then sticks with oly the SRD/Core Rules for future publications. That was one of the reasons I liked ... drawing a blank here... the fantasy orc city by Mongoose written by Wil. It used both Necromancy and Demonology.

Now I'm even more tempted to rotate my books... must resist urge...

The Heart of Glass isn't tied into the Canting Crew, but rather uses Canting Crew material. The CC is a book filled with info on how to build a cityscape environment and people it with the four great orders of thieves: assassins, thieves, vagabonds, and my fav, the beggars.

The Heart of Glass utilizes some of this material, using the beggars mostly. Its really shaped up into a nice product, one of our best.

As for OGL material, we tend to use what we have on hand, which leaves us mostly with Necro products. We've a bunch of Atlas stuff coming out in Blood Runes (its not officially slated for release, though should come out in the fall). I need to get some more company representation here in the office I think :)

But, and you heard it hear first, with our up coming adventure module (different than a Companion Book) St. Anton's fire, we will begin publishing all our content as OGC with only product identity protection.

Well it sounds terrific. I'll have to finish my reviews of Bluffsides, Guardian, and Shadowlands soon so I can see if any of the sties I freelance for have this puppy in.

I saw this in my local store and all I can say is that I doubt I will ever buy it. Sure the book is hardcover, but just glancing through it it didn't looked very "packed with information" , wide margins, lots of white space, etc. But the real stopper was the cost - $35 dollars. Sure I know it was written by EGG and all, but $35 bucks seemed a lot more than the content was worth. And a lot more than I am willing to spend on a book just because of who authored it.

Of course, this is just my opinion.

(Note to self: Pad outrageously:))

Haven't seen the book yet (Gary, Steve, that was a hint) so I'll say nothing about the contents. But if it's anything like the DMG 1e appendices, there should be tons one can use it for.

But with your admonition in mind I'll do my best to give Nation Building some heft.

I have received this book and it does have a lot of real good info that PC's and GM's can use. The cant alone is well worth it, and the price is not bad when you look at other hardbacks thatare duotone and with a pull out map (doublesided), written by EGG or not, but so far I ike what I have seen!:D
