Carcassone And Munchkin

but the fact that negotiations are possible with other players blows that out of the water.

Curious to hear an example of negotiations. I can't fathom what a "deal" in C would even sound like, or how it would be achievable.

I can see bargaining something like "you finish of my city and I will finish off your monastery" but that still would hinge on drawing the proper piece randomly.

I would say the game has definite tactics...but not strategy. Its impossible to sit down at the beginning of a game with a plan and follow that plan to the endgame. You are limited too much by random tile draws.

Carcassonne is a great game that doesn't get stale. It doesn't really work with only 2 players though: a third is really needed for any decent play.

I have to strongly disagree with you here. Carcasonne can be an excellent 2-player game, although it plays very differently from normal. As a 2-player game, it's much more competitive and analytical, and screwing your opponent out of points is as good as scoring them yourself.

I love playing Carcassonne 2-player; it works incredibly well there, methinks.

My least favourite Carcassonne game is 5-player: a bit too random.

Cheers!

Agreed. Carcasonne 2 player is damn fun!

We also own the 2-player version (Carcassonne: the Castle) which is also very fun. :)
