Regarding Jack Black, he would make a superb Belkar IMO. Much better than Durkon. Yes he could pull off the tree scene supurbly, but Belkar has so much more comedy in his role than Durkon.

I know what you mean, but to me, Belkar needs to be portrayed by a full-on action-type character. he's power-gamed to the max, but for the minor issue of size becoming a problem in 3.x. A freakin' roided out badass would be perfect. That, and someone like Batista dressed up like a hobbit and shrunk on screen would be too hilarious to ignore.

Exactly! Heh, hearing him spout "sexy shoeless god of war" would be worth the admission, instantly. Also, he's not opposed to starring in some real crap-fest movies, either, so getting him wouldn't take much more than a sandwich and some head-polish.

Hmm, not being familiar with the guy, I had to google some images. You're right. He would make a good Belkar, visualy. But Belkars got to be funny.

If you're doing it live action, why not simply use a real small person like Vern Troyer for Belkar?

Because the only thing he has is Belker's height. He could not perform the physical aspects of the role. Belkar is fast and deadly. Vern ain't.
