If I have a dispel magic spell stilled, silenced, can I cast it while paralyzed? LIke to negate that hold person spell on me?

Can you apply multiple metamagics to the same spell?

Ehem. Concerning Hold Person... it's Enchantment. I wouldn't allow it since your body is not paralyzed, your mind is. It's a Will save after all, not a Fort save.

The description of the Paralyzed condition specifically says a character may take purely mental actions. It also says the character is "unable to move or act," but given the above, it must be referring to physical actions. (Ditto for the line in hold person that says a character "cannot take any actions.")

Well, Paralyzed explicitly says you can take purely mental actions.

Hold Person says you become Paralyzed (which would allow you to take purely mental actions), and also says you cannot take any actions.

What's not explicit is if the "you cannot taken any actions" is due to the Paralysis, or in addition to the Paralysis. If it's because - you can take purely mental actions when Held. If it's as well - you can't.

And of course, if one allows mental actions while Held, the next question is "What about using a Fly spell?" :)

Definitely an interesting question. In our last gaming session, our DM ruled that you can fly even while held.

The psionic power Brain Lock seems to be desirable in every way to hold spellcasters.
