Castles and Crusades (NDA is lifted - ask questions, get answers)

But to clarify: there is nothing in C&C that prevent you from using a battle-mat.

Back in the day of 1st ed ADnD, we used graph paper to map out where people were, when absoluteley necessary. It worked great!

Of course it would never work now in 3.x. Or at least not for me. (Fortunately my players are richer than I am, and spend ridiculous amounts of money on figures and battlemates, eheh)...

I just knew you were going to say that. :):):)

Seriously, I like tactics and I think it's great that I can add that layer to the game should I want to. This might be the thing I've been waiting for.

We used a battle mat, and my dwarven forge stuff the whole time we play tests, so yes indeed you can use them, it is all a matter of what you are used to. :)
Yes me and my players are those types who spend moire money then we should on our hobby :)

No doubt. We never used a battle mat until 3e and tactics always came into play. I'm sick of lugging mini's around anyway.

Anyway I'm psyched. I'll be picking this up as soon as the HC's are out. There is one session left to wrap up the current adventure and then we will take a breat for a while. When this comes out we will most likely start up again using C&C for the rules. This sounds simpler than both 3.x and 1e.

Sweet!!

*goes into flex of happiness!*

No problem, glad to stop by and answer as many questions as possible. :)

And Ken (JES) has pretty much taken care of the battlemat question. ;)

As you can see, C&C has something for everybody in that it can play the way you want it to, not the way the creators wanted you to. That alone makes it the best system I've ever gamed under.

By the way, interesting notion on the RC "semi-prestige" classes, that would indeed be easier than the 3e version but you could do either or...just depends on how much work you want to put into your game. :)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask, I'll answer to the best of my ability, and I'm sure the other Trolls at the Troll Lords forum would be happy to chime in!

Do monsters have full stats? (i.e. list their Str, Dex, etc)

My main question is: WHEN IS THE HARDCOVER PLAYER'S BOOK DUE OUT???

I think I've just found my second game for the NC Gameday, but I need it ASAP. If it isn't released before the end of this month, I'm going to have to wait until next year... :(

Monsters will not have full stats (no attributes listed) but we're still a bit in the dark on what the full stat block will look like.

As to when the game will be released we have no hard and fast word on that either. It should be "soon" but how soon that is we don't yet know I'm sorry to say. :\

Just a request: can we please have no comments that translate to "3E sucks!" in this thread? (in other words, "C&C is better than 3E because it does this and 3E doesn't!")

So can I assume:
The C&C combat rules doesn't assume the use of a battlemat as the 3.5E rules do, but they can still handle battlemat activity if they need to?

Incidentally, if I were to play with two GMs, would I get different answers to the question "can I climb this tree?" based on the GM's mood? ;)

Cheers!

Haven't seen anyone act like that in this thread. Although your dislike of previous versions of the game is apparent. :p
