CB Classic question

I am one of those frequently reviled freeloaders (really more of a $10loader) who only occasionally re-ups his DDI subscription to update his character builder. My current copy is only current up to some time this spring.

I had been considering subscribing for a month again, to get the last update, and also be able to try the only one for a couple of weeks. However, I have heard mostly bad things about the October CB update. Mainly, that it adds a few bits from Essentials like magic item rarity that you wouldn't really want if you are going to be using it for classic 4E characters.

Is there a legal way to update my CB to the September update? I.e. would wizards have that update available if it resubscribe, or do they only have the most current?

The only problem with the last update was that you can't use gold to buy magic items. There is an easy work around for that. You just add the magic item and subtract the value in gold.

But to answer your question , no I don't think you can skip the last one. They probably don't even have a copy of that on their servers.

Didn't they also remove a number of the Adventurer's Vault items and broke it in other areas. I'm sure it wasn't deliberate, but very convenient for them, especially since the Monster Builder is also semi-broke and won't see an update.

It was also a very bad Update for the Weapon-Implement Users like Bards or Staff-Casters.

The only reason why you might want the newer Update is the Support for the Psionic Powers Book.

I believe the only items that were removed were RPGA-related, but I may be wrong. It is the only complaint on missing items that I've seen, though.

How else is the CB more broken than before? The item rarity implementation is downright crappy, but apart from that, I honestly haven't noticed yet.

In fact, I have a similar question about the Monster Builder. I've been using it for ages now to build my own custom monsters - I'll be doing my very first custom Solo on Saturday - with not much of an issue to speak of. The UI isn't always the best, but I haven't had any serious issues after the last update.

Huh. Now you mention it, I have seen several triggered actions getting their triggers erased, but only on occasion. Annoying when it happened, but usually I had to do little more than fill it in again, save it, and it worked again.
