CB's City of the Spider Queen v3.5 OOC

Hey sorry it's so late; but I would totally have to agree with what Tailspinner put out on the QoE. The composite bow would have to fit in someway, being that it's made to hold bows and more than likely composite bows were included in that. It just seems to make sense to me. The weights that the compartments hold would be the total weight of the sum of each. Well that's my two cents.

Question re: the QoE has been answered; scroll up a couple of posts for my decision.

Is anyone waiting for me to cull through the remaining sourcebooks before announcing what other gear they want to stock up on before starting on the journey? If so, let me know what book(s) you might be eyeing and I'll do those today. Thus far, I have the following characters purchasing the following items:

Zarra--spelunker's kit, 5 more days of rations and 1 more waterskin
Blite--winter blanket, whetstone, grappling hook, another waterskin, 5 days more trail rations, a belt pouch, a sack and 2 vials of anti-toxin
Prixo--probably some food and water of a currently undecided quantity, some cloth bags
Hael--food rations
Lyssa--couple of skins of wine and water as well as as two ten days of trail rations [not sure what "two ten days of trail rations" means, nor a "couple" of skins of wine and water, but I don't have a problem with any of it, so please feel free to specify a quantity, pay for it if you haven't already and edit it in to your character sheet in the RG]
Alex--MW climber's kit, 4x 50 ft lengths of silk rope and a backpack

Voadam, with regard to Survival checks to forage for food and potable water, I plan to pretty much follow the RAW in the PHB. With the exception of Ardyth and Alex, who are human, everyone is an Underdark native and therefore should be familiar with and willing to eat whatever "food" is found along the way if you all run out of food...fungus of one variety or another, spiders, monsters, etc.. Some of the characters will no doubt exhibit a certain degree of disdain for foraged food--that's natural and I'd be surprised if it were otherwise. Even Ardyth and Alex will be able to eat foraged food from the Underdark. They may not find it to their taste or may be disgusted by it, but in most cases it will be edible for them. No doubt we'll see some roleplay when or if it comes around to that point. I have to ask, though, was there a particular reason you're asking about survival checks to find food/water in the Underdark?

Mellubb, regarding Alex's purchase of a MW Climber's Kit, I don't think you need to bother making it masterwork. Check out the PHB description of "Tool, Masterwork" on page 130. A climber's kit is already considered masterwork according to that entry. Cost is therefore the standard PHB 80 gp.

If you simply want a better quality climber's kit, ie one that's less likely to break, I can come up with something, but it won't add another +2 to Alex's climb checks. A standard climber's kit already grants a +2 bonus. Please let me know if you want the standard climber's kit or if you still want a masterwork one.

Does Prixo notice any of the whispering about driders?

CB, about the Quiver: It doesn't make any sense to me that it would matter whether an item is an arrow, a pen, a javelin, a pebble, or whatever. The compartments should simply be long and narrow, and bigger on the inside than on the outside.

While the rules you listed would allow Prixo to carry what he wanted to, I do not want to deal with those rules. What I propose is either

1) Give me a quote on how much a Quiver that works the way I think it should would cost, and allow me to trade in some other gear in order to pay for it; or

2) Allow me to sell the Quiver for the 1800 gp it cost and be rid of it altogether. Preferably I could purchase or upgrade other magic items in its place.

Just want to clarify that right now Zarra is the only one who has spotted the driders laying down webbing on the ceiling.

Anyone who didn't either spot the drider tailing the party in the market or weren't party to Hael's warning is not yet aware of any drider but is definitely aware of whispering going on between party members. I've also added an orog to the scene in the IC thread--you may wish to go over and see whether that affects what your PC knows. The orog is currently talking to Prixo and K'yorl.

A current tally of where each character stands with regard to XP has been sent around to individual players. I double checked the RG thread to make certain who spent XP on item creation before play started and I'm only seeing that Ardyth is down points. If I've missed anyone else, please don't hesitate to let me know. Likewise, if you haven't received an email from me with your PC's XP total, please let me know immediately.

I think of it as sympathetic magic. A quiver magicked for containing extra bow or javelin stuff based on the quiver design and function, not just a storage compartment.

If memory serves the weeks in the Realms are ten days long and called tendays, thus 20 days rations. Intended 2 skins each, water and wine. All added to the RG. I did not spend any exp. Thanks.

From the srd entry on survival skill:

"10 Get along in the wild. Move up to one-half your overland speed while hunting and foraging (no food or water supplies needed). You can provide food and water for one other person for every 2 points by which your check result exceeds 10."

Hael has survival 14 so taking 10 he can provide food and water for himself and 7 others every day he forages and goes half overland speed.
