CB's Grim Frequencies IC -- COMPLETE

Cyril rolled his eyes. "Sure, let's go the quote-unquote FCC route, like any of us believe that BS anymore. I don't think we're honestly all that concerned about criminal charges at this point. We'll be singing like canaries and some of us are unbelievably persuasive. So if you really want that level of attention to your operation, then go ahead and hang us out to dry. For some reason, it totally doesn't surprise me that the government is trusting investigation of a hostile alien species to a group of convicts. Certainly not a job for more qualified people..."

Apparently not caring at all about the official personnel in the room, he continued.

"Feral's right. The more pressing concern is the boyfriend. We can't do anything else for Esmerelda and if the cops do show up, then whatever. Guess the world gets to find out about aliens a little ahead of schedule. Hey Otter, I hope you snapped some pics of the thrall. If the quote-unquote FCC is going to continue to provide such pathetic support, we need to backstop our stories."

"Pics and samples," Otter replies primly. "And the pics are uploaded to more than one remote server."

She rubbed the side of her nose and shook her head.

"Are we still going with the FCC stuff? Really? Commander Keen?" Otter looked at the Agent tiredly.

Definitely needed to do more Dew.

"It was vaguely plausible when it was just mysterious wireless signals in teddy bears, but when alien octopi show up in our bathroom, I think it's time to come clean. If that's not in your paygrade, fine. We'll wait for Garvey to show up. I'm not lifting another finger for you guys until I know who I'm working for."

Marks looked at Cyril like he'd lost his mind, but perhaps that was because the handler didn't understand half of what was transpiring.

Keihn chortled at Otter and Cyril. "Your generation is so quick to suspicion. I assure you, while Federal bureaucracy is competent enough, we're bumbling in the dark just as much as you are. Many things that sovereign citizen groups ascribe to conspiracy are just the agency at work, reacting rather than plotting." Keihn laid his badge open on the table. It read "Federal Communications Commission," with his name and a three-digit number. "The Professor is affiliated with IU, and has a five-year SETI research grant." Keihn paused. "If dealing with the...loose end...bores you, leave the girl to me. No one's threatened prosecution. You misunderstand. The risk is a whistle blower. Someone unconnected with the agency thinking they need to make a public service announcement to the media." Keihn stood up, collected his badge. "I'll see the girl now, please."

Bukowski's eyes quickened. It was clear that he hoped the group would pursue Tommy.
