Malfoy hits twice (worst roll 16) for 27. Potter's scar is starting to hurt, and he has 5 HP remaining.

Round 424: Potter backs up to 60N60E and goes on the defensive.
 

Malfoy shakes his platinum blond curls and flies to 60N60E20Z and jabs again. Does this make it so that Potter cannot withdraw without provoking an AoO?
 

Oops. Potter is not so bright. Malfoy hits with AoO (rolled 24+1=25 for HG) for 11. Potter is dying.

Round 424: A large animal with a huge mouth full of peg-like teeth waddles into the arena to 60N100E (OK, it is a hippopotamus). It flees the arena in round 425 after Malfoy flies to 60N90E20Z and pokes it.

Round 425: This conical-shaped plant floats point up. The circumference of its base is a writhing forest of wide-veined leaves on flexible stalks that paddle the air and seem to serve as rudders. Its body glistens in various shades of green, and sharp, translucent green spines cover it. The conical body tapers to the top into a single branch tipped with a large emerald-tinted transparent hook or horn. Motes of electricity seem to dance over its body, arcing from spine to spine.

The plant flies up to 110N100E20Z and fires a knifelike spike at Malfoy, which bounces off Malfoy's hide (rolled 12).

I am not sure Malfoy can attack the plant. He must move more than his speed to attack the plant, so it would have to be a charge attack. He must turn 45 degrees before moving toward the plant, so that might negate a charge, but I am not sure. For a charge, you must move directly toward your opponent. Turning in place might not be considered moving, so it might be OK. For now I will rule the charge OK, but that might change after further review.

Malfoy spears the plant (rolled 21+2=23 for charge) for 14 points of damage. The plant has 81 HP remaining.

Round 426: The large plant flies to 110N90E20Z, turns south, flies to 100N90E20Z, and tries to gore Malfoy with its sharpened spike. Malfoy hits with AoO (rolled 28), skewering the plant for 9 points of damage. The plant skewers Malfoy (rolled 18) for 5 points of piercing (maybe skewer was too strong a word) and 1 point of electrical damage. The plant has 72 HP remaining, and Malfoy has 32 HP remaining.

OOC: Malfoy has good maneuverability, so it would take him at least a move action (or part of one) to turn in place.

At this point, the plant is too close for the longspear, so Malfoy will reluctantly drop it to the ground and then make a full attack with his foreclaws and two rakes. If Malfoy gets an AoO, he will try to grapple. If he gets a move action remaining (after kill the plant), he flies down to his spear. Time compress?
 

Time compression on. I suppose, then, that Malfoy did not attack the first round.

Malfoy hits with all four claws (worst roll 19), dealing out 22 points of damage. The plant has 64 HP remaining.

Round 427: The plant hovers and its spike bounces off Malfoy's hide (rolled 10).
Malfoy hits with rear claws only (best missing roll 17) for 10. The plant has 54 HP.

Round 428: The plant fires 6 spikes at Malfoy, hitting with only two, but one hits Malfoy in the neck. Malfoy tries to grapple for his AoO, but the plant skewers him to stop such nonsense with its AoO (rolled 22) for 9 piercing and 4 electrical damage. Malfoy takes 15 points of piercing and 9 points of electrical damage from the spikes. Malfoy dies when he hits the ground for an additional 10 points of damage.
The plant is at 110N90E20Z and has 54 HP.

Next in round 428 for Chaotic Evil is a very young shadow dragon (Draconomicon). It has the feats Hover, Improved Initiative, and Weapon Focus (claw). It has the following maxed-out skills: Diplomacy, Escape Artist, Knowledge (dungeoneering and religion), Listen, Search, Sense Motive, Spot, and Use Magic Device. It knows nothing about the plant other than what it has observed.
