CE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Howling Dragon vs. Thunder Worm

Filch walks into the arena to 0N0E and then activates psionic levitation. Filch will not activate mental barrier if the plant moves and attacks. If the plant attacks from his current location, Filch will activate the mental barrier. Filch's Dodge is on the plant. Mrs. Norris also struts into the arena, looks around, but then leaves.

OK. That's one reference I did not get. Now, if Mesmer or Vulch walked in with Filch, I would understand.

Round 434: The plant steps to 100N95E35Z and fires six spikes. One spike hits (the plant needs new dice, and it missed once b/c of the Dodge/level loss combo) for 5 points of piercing and 4 points of electrical damage. Filch has 43 HP remaining.

With all the Malfoy/Potter stuff, I was sure you'd get it. :)

Filch dimension doors to 100N90E35Z. When, not if, Filch is attacked, he'll activate his mental barrier again.

Oh, the cat.

Round 435: The plant steps back to 100N100E40Z and fires six spikes, hitting with two of them for 6 points of piercing and 8 points of electrical damage. Filch has 29 HP remaining.

Let me know if Filch wanted to take his AoO when the plant used its ranged attack. Filch would still have taken the same amount of damage, because the plant still has 35 HP and cannot be stopped from firing its spikes.

Absolutely Filch would take his AoO. However, I was wondering if he would get one because of the dimension door. He gets to take no actions until his next turn, but technically an AoO is not an action. It does have an impact, though, 'cause if the AoO and the improved grab succeed, then the plant might not get to fire his spikes (I don't know the creature, however).

One way or another, now that the plant is within reach, Filch will take a full round of attacks, hopefully time filching the plant. If Filch could speak, he'd say, "Call me a squib, will you!"

OOC: The only restriction I can see to making an AoO is being flat-footed, so Filch will be able to make it. Filch gets to use improved grab only if he hits with two claw attacks, so he still cannot stop the plant with his AoO. Filch's AoO cannot penetrate the plant's bark (rolled 19-1=18 for 1st attack while levitating).

I had forgotten that Filch cannot take any actions until his next turn due to the dimension door (I remembered he could not take any actions the same turn), so he could not activate mental barrier when the plant fired the spikes. As a result, he plant hit one more time for 3 points of piercing and 4 points of electrical damage. Filch has 22 HP remaining.

Filch hits with two claws (worst hitting roll 22-1=21 for L, best missing roll 12-1=11), and grabs on (15 vs. 14 grapple, thanks to negative levels). Filch inflicts 7 points of damage to the plant, but in the process, Filch gets shocked for 4 points of electrical damage from the plant's body.

Both combatants disappear from view for 7 minutes, only to reappear in exactly the same spot. The plant is not dazed (rolled 19-2-17 for NL Will save).

Round 436: The plant tries to break free, but cannot either try. The plant has 28 HP remaining. Filch has 18 HP remaining. Filch is next, and both combatants are in 100N90E35Z. If the plant could speak, it would say, "Let go of me if you know what's good for you."

Can Filch use a grapple check to levitate up with the plant by 20ft? If so, that's what he does. If not, he'll merely and reluctantly take a full round of attacks.

An unspoken "Bonzai!"

Filch now wants to try to freefall, with the plant, driving them both into the ground. Is this possible or does the plant hold them both up? Whether or not Filch can Tumble to avoid some damage himself is a side point. He hopes to take the plant out.

Cool idea. Filch can dismiss the levitation as a standard action, but he cannot tumble while grappling.

The plant makes a valiant effort to try to hold up Filch, but they both plummet to the ground. They each take 19 points of damage from the fall. Filch is dying, and the plant has 9 HP remaining.

Round 438: The plant CDG's Filch, and floats to 100N85E just above ground level.

Next in round 438 for Chaotic Evil is a bogannarr (Creature Catalog). Have fun, Mr. Prez.

Gansk, I need help locating a bogannarr. It is not under 'bogannarr' in the Creature Catalog.
