CE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Howling Dragon vs. Thunder Worm

Tiefling versus Darkmantle

Since it is surrounded by darkness anyway, the Tiefling drops his bolt-head to concentrate fully on firing.

If he is on a cycle of 'fire, reload' presently (unsure) then fire (standard), drop crossbow (free), draw rapier (MEA) the round before squiddy reaches melee, if that seems to be his inclination.

If the tiefling is instead on a cycle of 'reload, fire', drop crossbow (free), draw rapier (MEA), and ready to attack when it comes in reach (standard) because squiddy arrives.

If tiefling isn't out of bolts, kills squiddy in melee, and has a move action left in the round where he does so, drop rapier (free), and pick up crossbow (MEA). If he is ahead in iniative and has a full round before a new opponent enters, sheath rapier and pick up crossbow (if crossbow was unloaded) or drop rapier, pick up crossbow, and ready to fire.

*phew* Compress away. Sorry to have been away for a day.

Round 57: Tiefling reloads, fires, and misses. Darkmantle moves to 0N30E5Z.

Round 58: Tiefling drops crossbow, draws rapier, and readies attack. Darkmantle charges to 0N10E5Z and attacks. Tiefling hits for 2, Darkmantle hits for 7!

Round 59: Tiefling is defeated! Darkmantle has 4 hp left.

Next up for CE: a mane. (Book of Vile Darkness)

The mane goes first in round 59.

Gnome-Mane

A remarkably evil and startlingly chubby little demon with crooked snaggleteeth and rotten claws waddles into the area beside the darkmantle (5' step). Someone seems to have strapped a faux beard and a floppy hat onto the corpulent demon, but they quickly fall off as it wades into the darkmantle with tooth and claw in a straightforward display of fury! (Full attack)

(If I somehow have misrecollected and the tiefling had moved further into the area, it charges. The Mane isn't really smart enough to do anything else but charge opponent or full attack opponent, so compress away on that principle.)

Darkmantle is at 0N10E, so mane has to move to 0N5E, which is too close to charge.

Mane misses, darkmantle hits for 8-5=3, but does not manage to grab on. Manes at 1 HP.
Mane misses all three times, darkmantle misses.
Mane misses, darkmantle hits for 7-5=2. Mane is at -1 and dying. Mane is teleported away before something nasty can occur. Darkmantle is at 0N10E5Z.

Next for CE is a minor flame snake (FF).

No Fiend Folio

SixFootGnome does not have the FF, so he will take over the darkmantle (MM).

Please proceed, PJSlavner. The flame snake goes first in round 62.

(Everywhere I turn there seem to be flame snakes).

A small red and orange snake slithers to 5N5E and misses its strike (rolled 11).

Would you like me to time compress? It looks like a fairly straightforward fight.

Darkmantle misses.

Flame snake hits for 4 on bite and 4 fire. Darkmantle is at -4 HP and dying. Flame snake moves to 10N10E.

A small living flame moves into the arena to 10N70E. Flame snake charges to 10N65E and misses. The flame missed on its readied attack.

Both miss.
Both miss.
Flame snake hits for 2 points of damage. The flame is at 7 HP and seems unconcerned about the poison.
Both miss.
Both miss.
Both miss.
Both miss.
Both miss (flame snake missed because the flame has Dodge feat). It is a draw (the stupidest kind of draw, when one of the combatants cannot roll above an 11 and the other one does only twice).

Neutral goes first. A small humanoid made out of rock and dirt comes into the arena at 60N115E, and sinks into the ground without a trace.

Next up for CE: a planetouched (chaond) (MM II)
