CE vs. N (FFA): Very Young Howling Dragon vs. Thunder Worm

Chaond

(i'll be posting tonight once I've gotten to my books, as usual. One clarification: the subject says fire elemental, but the description sounds more like an earth elemental...)

Gansk has not changed the subject yet. The fire elemental drew against the flame snake. In any event, the chaond knows nothing about earth elementals.

Chaond vs Elemental

The slightly hunchbacked, malformed humanoid enters the arena, (per stab block, terrible weapon choices) a sickle in one hand and a dart in the other, wearing a bandolier of additional darts. Before entering, it saw the creature sink into the floor. Lacking any better concept of when or how it will surface, it does its best to watch for the rockman, intending to step away and throw a dart when it sees the rockman.

(Ready to 5' step away and throw a dart if he sees the rockman. I can't imagine the circumstances under which the chaond would really want to use the sickle, save to use it if completely unable to escape a threatened area.)

Equipment

This is a general problem with humanoids. Nonhumanoids don't make much use of equipment, so it is fine for them that equipment isn't exhaustively listed. None of the creatures that have a bow listed actually state anywhere that they have arrows or how many. Your event and your call, but I'd guessed that the chaond would get some handful of his ranged attack. Either way, correction made. Declare dodge and retain the readied action for ranged attack. Move to the sickle when cornered or out of ranged weapons.

Round 72: The chaond moves to 60N5E and readies his dart. Nothing apparently happens.

Round 73: Nothing apparently happens.

Round 74: The rockman pops up halfway at 60N10E. The chaond moves to 60N0E and throws his dart. Missed! (Rolled 12)

Round 75: The chaond readies his sickle, moves to 60N5E and hacks. Missed! (Rolled 15+1 for higher ground = 16) The rockman hits! (Rolled 25) 7 points of damage!

Round 76: The chaond is defeated!

Next up for CE: a githyanki. (EPH or MM) It goes first in round 76.

charge

Holding her greatsword, the githyanki enters. This creature should be nothing compared to an illithid. She charges and chops with her silvery blade.

(If she defeats the elemental and subsequently faces some fleshy, humanoid-type opponent that seems potentially vulnerable to her daze ability, she'll try it out on them when they come within charge range of her, then charge them if they are dazed.)

The charge almost knocked the githyanki off balance (rolled 7+2=9 for charge). The rockman swings back, clubbing the githyanki (rolled 22) for 5 points of damage. The githyanki is at 6 HP.

The githyanki regains his balance and strikes (rolled 20) a glancing blow for 4 points of damage. Rockman has 7 HP left. Rockman misses.

Githyanki misses, and rockman hits for 9. Githyanki is at -8 and dying. Rockman is still at 60N10E.

Next for Chaotic Evil: a frost dwarf (Planar Handbook).

No Planar Handbook

see subject, so if you want to toss someone else in for the fight or trade sides again...

If we're trading, the elemental seems to be doing fine with the current state of affairs, so why change anything?

Round 79:

A dwarf with blue skin, white glowing eyes, and icicles on his blue hair and beard charges to 60N5E and barely misses with his battleaxe. Rockman misses.

Round 80: The dwarf misses, Rockman hits for 9. Dwarf has 1 hp left.

Round 81: The dwarf backs up to 60N0E, concentrates, and one of his hands starts to glow. Rockman moves to 60N5E and misses.

Round 82: The dwarf touches Rockman and delivers 1 plus 1 Str damage. Rockman has 6 hp left. Rockman misses.

Round 83: The dwarf touches for 2. Rockman hits for 10. Rockman has 4 hp left, dwarf is defeated.

Next up for CE: a forestkith goblin barbarian. (MM III)

The barbarian goes first in round 84.
