Hooray! It will be fun to have you judge again. Anyone know the whereabouts of Mythago, Sialia, Clay or some others who know the ropes? I've been off the boards a couple of years, so I don't know who has been currently judging and playing.
Mythago is lawyering, Sialia is parenting, and Clay is off the site. I'll ask the first two.

No no, I think orchid, Piratecat, Rodrigo, Eeralai and maxfieldjadenfox should compose a five-person VIP jury headed by RangerWickett. Yeah, that should do it. And nobody except me uses words beginning with M. Muhahaha.

Possibly you are misremembering our last match-up. I seem to remember leaving the finals in defeat...

Hmm. Could do 10-4-2, with the top-four winners advancing out of the first round (in other words, one match wouldn't advance anyone). That seems a little harsh, though. Unless it's not me, in which case, it's ok.

Don't you have something else you're supposed to be writing, hmmm?

No matter. The 72-hour time limit will take care of you in short order :p
Interestingly enough, my contract has now doubled in size, and the deadline has been extended til later in the year.

I'm hoping this contest will help me sharpen my wits for that. :-)

I am such a fool to consider even doing this.
Maybe I will get lucky and I will have a poet to match up against making it fair and even.
gads count me in, I am insane and I must love being a glutton for losing.

Thing is, I don't think it's really about the winning and losing. I've competed a half dozen times, and I think I won once. I don't even remember. What stays with you is pushing yourself to create something you really like, and stretching your own limits for writing. That's what I remember after the fact. That, and the joy of reading a really excellent story that just beat you, and knowing it wouldn't have existed if not for the contest.

That would be pretty harsh. I think you missed Fickle GM on your list which makes 11 and now TadK. Maybe by Monday we will have four more and two more judges. I'm surprised not more storyhour authors try this. Anyone ever thought of posting the link to the contest on that side of the board?

I'd be willing to judge, if you still need one. It's been a while, but I think I remember how it all goes (The last time I judged was, I think, late 2003 or so)
