D&D 5E Challenge: Invent a PHB Class List with 6 Classes

Only need 4: Magic-User, Fighter-Pwrson, Rogue, and Cleric. Everything else is a Subclass. Done.
As I've said earlier in the thread, 6 classes isn't meant to be any kind of ideal number, it's a strange place in between the 3 classes of od&d and the 12 classes of 5e. That's what makes it a "challenge."

So how would you get from the core 4 classes to 6 classes that are interesting and/or make sense to you?

Six classes: Ranger, Barbarian, Magician, Thief, Cavalier, and Acrobat.

A version of D&D without any magical healing to be sure, so it'd probably not be to everyone's taste.

Wait, wait, wait...

What a strange version of Dungeons & Dragons: the barbarian gets the animal companion instead of the ranger?

Well, at least in this version the ranger is pretty effective (at least according to the cartoon...).

(bold added)
They rarely got hurt, either, so not much of a game-breaker... ;)

6 classes
Warrior: Barbarian, Fighter, Monk
Mage: Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock
Rogue: Thief, Ranger, Bard
Champion: Cleric, Paladin
Druid
Artificer
Off topic- 4 classes is cleaner. Druid in champion Artificer in rogue.

OK, I don't think it it is an ideal number, but I'll try.

Fighter. A master of martial skill. Knight, Mercenary, Warlord, Paladin.

Rogue. Shady master of underhanded tricks. Thief, Assassin, Ruffian.

Warden. A primal warrior of the wilds. Ranger, Beastmaster, Berserker.

Theurge. One who channels spiritual powers. Cleric, Shaman, Monk

Sorcerer. Master of arcane. Magus, Warlock, Artificer

Bard. Flamboyant Jack-of-All-Trades.
