Challenge: Making the worst 20th-level character

As far as I understand, the benefits of the VoP depend on HOW EARLY YOU TAKE THE VOW.

IOW - if we can take the vow at 20th level, it will give very few benefits.

No - the text of VoP specifically says that you get all the retroactive benefits.

Metamagic feats work great for any character...
I like the idea of the were-orca... Still seems like a pretty strong meatslab though...
(I mean all of these guys are doing no damage, so he's doing no damage but has hp...)

Isn't it the one where you want to get into it as soon as possible because otherwise you lose out?

Or is it just that you lose out on bonus feats or something...

Why average HP for a non-average character? It's always been an annoyance of mine that D&D allows you to select a barbarian class, and then hangs you out to dry if you roll a 1 for your hit points. Oh sure, your DM would have to be a jerk to force you to keep that 1, but why does D&D force the DM to break its rules like that?
(Ot, it sounds like you both support & condemn average hps?)

Have you calculated his saves (again, not using fractional varieties, to maintain consistency)? Should be pretty astronomical, with all those +2's in there.

On the other hand, you can use a lot of magic items, sure. And your save will be outrageously good. So, at least, you'll be enduring. But wholly ineffectual. ;)

20th level commoner, all ability scores at 3. :)

the challenge was to be out of the phb. commoners are in the dmg. I would say 20th level elven Wizard 20
using 28 pt buy str 15, Dex 13, Con 6, Int 11, Wisdom 19, Cha 11
With Max HP he has 63. Weapon Focus Club, Toughness, Endurance, Light Armor Prof., Med. Armor Prof, Heavy Armor Prof.
8 15
8 10 +2 +1
8 08 -2
8 10 +1
8 17 +2
8 10 +1

This character's best attack is melee. Go ahead, I dare anone to take a 20th level melee character into play with 63 hp. his attack (non magical) is only +13. --just a thought
