Is there other ways than wish to turn a magical weapon into another weapon type and keep magical abilities?

The case is following: My character (Druid) has found a magical longsword. Its abilities fit character consept quite nicely, we play in FR so he's allowed to use longsword, but because of roleplaying reasons I would like to turn that longsword into a scimitar.

Any suggestions?

I don't think there are any rules for that, but if your DM agrees, you might find a good smith and item creator, who can reforge it for you without destroying its magic.

Also a spell that transforms the longsword into a scimitar might work. I don't see why the magical abilities should be lost in the process. Polymorph any object was not permanent, right? Too bad.
