I think the chuuls in my campaign will continue to be mute....Of course, I'm only in the "D" listings...

Then no one will understand the chuul, when it screams "Get me out of this pot of boiling water!! And what's with all the melted butter?!?!" :D

Also in the "D" section, the dragon turtle goes from not being able to breathe water (3.0) to not being able to breathe air (3.5)!

Okay, I haven't seen the 3.5 MM yet, but bear with me.

I can see why you are upset with the new 1st-level orc warrior. I am sure, though, that Wizards of the Coast didn't intend the MM 1st-level orc warrior to be the definitive orc. Unless I am mistaken they did give you a neat little Racial Abilities block as with any PC race, am I right? The way I see it this 1st-level orc warrior is just an example of what kind of an orc warrior you could build by using the Racial Abilities. Look at the 3.5 MM Mind Flayer. First we get a nice little statistic block that represents the stock Mind Flayer, then we get the Racial Abilities block of the Mind Flayer, and finally we get an example Mind Flayer. Now, you ask why aren't the so called 1st-level humanoids represented in the stat blocks stock humanoids? It's because there really is no stock humanoid. The thing with 1st-level humanoids (meaning humanoids with no base hit die, like humans, dwarves, elves, orcs etc.) is that the first level they gain is a Class Level. It's not a level of humanoid, it's a class level. Because of this you can't really say that the example 1st-level humanoids in the MM should be stock versions of the given race. The creatures given are just example creatures.

Tell me, Quasqueton, did you really find these changes so terrible that you had to come here and complain about them? Did these changes really cause permanent harm to you? I think not. Little starving kids are dying in Africa, and you are complaining about these petty changes in a book! There are people who are living on the street, and your world was rocked because WotC changed the stats of the 1st-level orc! Okay, I think I've gone a bit overboard here, but I find your complaint quite petty, and find it hard to give a damn about the changes in humanoid stat blocks, since I rarely use humanoids "straight from the book." ;)

And besides, the time we have spent sitting at our computers writing on these forums could have been spent more productively. Why, the time you spent complaining about the changes in the MM and I spent replying to your post could've been spent trying to get dates, going for a walk in the crisp Summer air or something. But instead we chose to stay inside, typing on our thinking machines. Go figure! :D

Or, as my case is this morning: fixing the damn master-bathroom toilet. (Damn if I'm gonna pay a plumber $80 just to come out and look at it.)

I'm off to Home Depot now.

Don't talk such non-sense... It may result in me having nothing to read while at work!!!

Consider this, the 3 10s, 3 11s array costs 15 points in point buy. The non-elite array: 13, 12, 11, 10, 9 , 8 ALSO costs 15 points in point buy. So I ask you, is this warrior orc really "better" than a 3 10s, 3 11s orc? If the two arrays had different point buy costs I could understand your quandry. But since they have the same cost I don't see why this makes such a big difference to you.

You know...if its THAT much of a problem, since you obviously have the pre-Revised MM...why don't you just use...that Orc?

Because it's Not Official. Being Official is very important to some gamers.
