Changing Seasons - PBEM/Novel -[Recruiting]

First Post
Changing Seasons is looking for a select group of players/writers to co-create a little masterpiece.

While this game will follow many PBEM conventions, there will be some very, very important differences, ones I hope will appeal to precisely the sort I'm looking for.

First and foremost will be the presentation. While we will interact in forums/chat/etc we're also going to have a web presence, a place where we can go to read the entire adventure in novel format (re-posted from the forum) AND in-character journals from each of the main characters. This will be for the public as well, I for one would much rather read a nicely arranged virtual novel than dig through a forum entry-by-entry. .it just flows that much better.

I'm also a big fan of regularity, not in a getting-lots-of-fiber sort of way (not that I'm opposed to that), but rather that our story will be updated regularly. (bi-weekly at a minimum, however I tend to be the sort that does little-updates if things stay quiet too long.)

The characters will be made in a d20 modern format, just SRD stuff, no FX or psionics (at least initially, and even then it won't be the same system Wizards has). Magic's COMING, it's not here yet.

Changing Seasons will start in the present day. It will initially be non-magical however the premise of the game is that the world is about to undergo a transition in which technology becomes unreliable and at times useless while magic returns to the world.

I tend to be the sort who writes both humor and some fairly dark twists into things. So things will NOT be un-fun, but there will be some Lovecraft-meets-lumley aspects to the way the world is changing, and definitely at least one bad guy that even gives me the willies :)

Changing Seasons - Character Creation.

First of all, some important notes on the sorts of players we're looking for.

In general, players should be flexible, good writers, mature, and punctual.

A sense of humor is a must, it's a sign of intelligence you know ;)

Players need to be very good at separating in-character and out-of-character knowledge

Players should be positive and enthusiastic (players, not characters)

Players should never have been convicted of a felony (accused yes, convicted no. . it's a matter of getting away with it really)

Players should be the sort who are EXCITED by the idea of having their adventures posted as a virtual novel of sorts, and to whom the idea of an in-character journal is a joy rather than a bother.

Players should have a writer's heart, so if I take a couple of creative licenses writing things out shouldn't get taken too personally :)

The game will be fairly fast-paced, so being able to participate, even in fairly quick back-and-forth E-mail will be crucial. For those who are familiar with the AMBER system I'll be using the spirit of that system in cases where dice-rolling really isn't necessary.
---------------------

Character Creation.

Characters will be created using d20 modern rules, 25 point buy, and will start as 2nd level characters.

Backgrounds should be somewhat 'normal' (I'll take a librarian over an ex Navy Seal with a suspicious gun collection, though that doesn't mean the librarian might not come into her own as things evolve)

While not required from a character sheet standpoint, I want advantages and flaws for the character. Give us a couple of quirks to play with, let's bring your creation to life.

Make your character something you play well, something you're comfortable with. Someone you can FEEL.

Other than that. . it's all a matter of getting from your mind/heart to paper.

Interested parties can post here, PM me, or write at learsfool@gmail.com

This game sounds very very interesting...is it still gonna be going on? I'd love to do something with it if there is still space...

I'd be interested where are we going to be based setting-wise? Should we know each other? (perhaps we catch the same bus to work:)) Anything else?

This sounds like something I would be extremely interested in too. I think I fit your criteria, and keeping a character journal is something I usually do even when not recquired to to keep my IC thoughts together and ensure a decent through-line of action. So - yeah, count me in if this is still a possibility. :)
