Felina - the mexican girl in the song El Paso saga and one of the longest songs your likely to hear
Out in the West Texas town of El Paso
I fell in love with a Mexican girl.
Night-time would find me in Rosa's cantina;
Music would play and Felina would whirl.

Blacker than night were the eyes of Felina,
Wicked and evil while casting a spell.
My love was deep for this Mexican maiden;
I was in love but in vain, I could tell.

I used an NPC female barbarian once named Leeta of the Fjord (Lita Ford). She wielded an ax.

I also used a pair of female NPCs modeled after Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. One (Ann) was an arcane spellcaster, and the other (Nancy) was an ax-wielding fighter.

Then there was the half-elf bard named Elven Jon.

In running Cyberpunk 2020 games, I frequently used the names of characters from songs as the handles of NPCs, especially Netrunners. Got several from Steely Dan (Kid Charlemagne, Dr. Wu, Deacon Blue, Nineteen, others I can't remember right now). Dr. Feelgood and Rattail Johnny from Motley Crue.

In Traveller games, I take ship's names from songs, and try to have the captain's name somehow related. Such as The Generation Landslide, with the captain's name Vincent Furnier (Alice Cooper's real name). Or The Teenage Wasteland, with the captain's name Baba O'Reilly (the actually name of the song by The Who that mentions Teenage Wasteland).

I've been kicking around a character concept for a while.
He's a former cleric turned rogue named Mike Stipe.
After losing his religon he became a thief, his specialty is hiding in dark corners.
So when the party is looking for him he can just say "That's me in the corner."
He's a shiny happy person.

A friend of mine had a backstabbin' rogue he called Coverdale Page.

He picked out his name from a stack of CD's sitting on his table. This CD is a collaboration work of Whitesnake's David Coverdale and Zeppelin's Jimmy Page.

I gotta pull more hero/villain names from Steely Dan. That's all there is to it. Hmmm... Deacon Blue.

When I ran MegaTraveller, a friend took his scout ship name from English essayists and called it the Addison Steele.
