Character names from popular music

I do this fairly frequently with superhero/villain characters. I've build characters named:

Stormy Monday
Orange Crush (an evil version of the Thing)
Lightnin' Hopkins
Oliver's Army
War Child
Dreamweaver
Atomic Punk
Little Time Bomb
Lucifer Sam
Mongoloid
Slow Motion
TNT

Too many song titles don't work for fantasy, but they're great for superhero games.

OK, this kinda works as a real historical figure too, but I was so proud of it. In my game, the party fought the minions of a death slaad brooder named Jefro'tuul.

The band was named after the inventor of the seed drill.

Only one person got it. And he never let me live it down.
Demiurge out.

My most recent character found the first part of his name in popular music:

Syl'Leonidas

The "Leonidas" part is from the king who led the Spartans at Thermopylae. It came after I'd long decided on the char's first name "Syl". The chars in my other latest game all had "easy" names, so I wanted a simple name that reflected a cleric. "Syl" comes from the immortal Syl Johnson, who recorded many classics for Hi Records in the late '60s early '70s. His biggest hit was "Take Me to the River" (best known now by The Talking Heads).

My Syl is a bookish Elven cleric who craves odd knowledge and likes pointy things. I hope Mr.Johnson is cool with that.

woohoo! this thread is turning out to be as cool as i'd hoped. :)

the beatles have a lot of wacky "characters" in their song titles:

Nowhere Man
The Walrus
Mean Mr. Mustard
Polythene Pam

Here comes Dolly Dagger
Her love's so heavy, gonna make you stagger.
Dolly Dagger, she drinks her blood from a jagged edge...
Been riding broomsticks since she was fifteen
Blow out all the other witches on the scene.
She got a bull whip, just as long as your life.
her tongue can even scratch
the soul out of the devil's wife.

Corporal Clegg had a wooden leg
He won it in the war In nineteen forty four.

Corporal Clegg had a medal too
In orange, red, and blue
He found it in the zoo.

Dear, dear were they really sad for me?
Dear, dear will they really laugh at me?

Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him.
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin.
Corporal Clegg umbrella in the rain
He's never been the same
No one is to blame

Corporal Clegg recieved his medal in a dream
From Her Majesty the queen
His boots were very clean.
Mrs. Clegg, you must be proud of him
Mrs. Clegg, another drop of gin?

Look, he's crawling up my wall
Black and hairy, very small
Now he's up above my head
Hanging by a little thread

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Now he's dropped on to the floor
Heading for the bedroom door
Maybe he's as scared as me
Where's he gone now, I can't see

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

There he is wrapped in a ball
Doesn't seem to move at all
Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure
Pick this book up off the floor

Boris the spider
Boris the spider

Creepy, crawly
Creepy, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly
Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

He's come to a sticky end
Don't think he will ever mend
Never more will he crawl 'round
He's embedded in the ground

Boris the spider
