Character Submission Thread

A couple recommendations before I actually go through approval-wise (probably tomorrow):

- Savage Skald is probably a bit weaker than the basic bard. But if you like it for flavor, and you really like that insta-performance on crit, then you might be better off with an 18-20 falchion than a 19-20 longsword. The thing is, you get proficiency with a falchion by not selecting the City-Born alternate racial. In other words, your choice of archetype and alternate racial ability doesn't seem like a strong match to me.
- Dodge - very weak feat. It's really only useful for front line fighters who have too many feats and want to squeeze out every last point of AC. Good choices for a skirmisher bard: Lingering Song, Arcane Strike. Alternatively, you might want to try tilting more towards melee or ranged. Treantmonk wrote a very good if slightly outdated guide for bards, which can be found here.
- Vanish is not a great spell. Especially not at first level, when it lasts all of one round. Grease, Sleep, and Timely inspiration are all much stronger.
- Spend all your monies. LPF has 100% buyback, so your potion of Cure Light Wounds is just as good as the 50gp in your pocket, with the added bonus that you can drink it in case of emergency and possibly not die.

1. You left your shield bonus in your FFAC. Fixed.
2. 2H weapons get 1.5 STR damage modifier. Fixed.
3. Listed FC bonus as hp, but didn't actually put it in your hp. Fixed.
4. Recommend changing out Daze for a different cantrip.

Damn you, SK. Editing conflict. I'll fix these later if you didn't get them already.

Evaluating Ragzhul:
1. Your Suspicious trait makes Sense Motive a class skill, so I marked it as such.
2. My math has been off before, but I'm reasonably certain you're carrying 48 pounds, not 54. Fixed.
3. I thought your finances were off until I realized one item costed 5 sp rather than 5 gp. Rewrote it as .5 gp for clarity.
4. I like your backstory, but you write him as taking a new name . . . and that name is the same name you've been using to refer to him the whole time. You might want to tweak that.

4 is just a quibble, so Ragzhul is officially APPROVED. See you in the DWI!

Good thing I checked here first. I added Cyclopean's approval to Ragzhul and gave him the approved category, so he's all set on the wiki now. :)

Reviewing Vorn

SK already mentioned needing Familiar stats, so I only have this to add:

Technically it's within the rules given racial modifiers, and you've made a reasonable effort to acknowledge it in the demeanor and background section*, but in my opinion, a character with a 5 in Charisma isn't just unlikeable or socially awkward or accidentally inept. He's practically incapable of functioning in society. His very presence in a room would / should be enough to make people horribly uncomfortable, if not outright hostile.

Seriously, I looked it up, and a Monitor Lizard and a skunk are both literally more likeable than Vorn when viewed by stats.

Making an attempt to roleplay that seems like it might also make for some relatively awful inter-character dynamics that I'm not sure are really something I'd recommend. I STRONGLY recommend you reconsider your point buy, if for no other reason than, with your dump in STR, Vorn's going to have a heck of a time convincing anyone to help him carry his stuff. ;)

*(both the background and demeanor are well done, let me say. I don't want you thinking I oppose a socially-clumsy concept like Vorn, just that I think his stats are much more extreme than I think even the background might support).

To back up Jkason on charisma, The characters of Borric Hawkins, Cavernous Hode and Daylilly Falshenaya, I present that they each have an 8 in charisma and

Borrick is just reprobate of extreme questionable character as proven with the brothes and his unpaid -- services rendered behid him

Cavernous Hode is on the wrong side of strangely insne of the meglomaniacal variety

and

Daylilly just needs a bath for the first time in his life. seriously. And to quit licking the psychotropic toads.
