Characters for the Academy of Drell

MAERATH ILIANDIL

Messages to Zhure:
1. You're sure about the skill points? Wizards get 2+Int, which means 4*4 at level 1, 4 at level 2 and 3, and 5 at level 4 = 29.
2. Thanks for the familiar. The bonus is the same, but I like squirrel, the reason I wanted one hadn't anything to do with the bonus!:D

Oopsie.

According to the SRD:
Wizard (2 + Int Modifier) x 4 2 + Int Modifier

For some reason, I was thinking Wizard was a 4 skill point class, like a Psion. I forgot they got das shaft like a Sorcerer. You're absolutely correct about the 29. Mea culpa.

If you have another spot open, I would be interested in throwing my hat into this one, as well. I was interested in playing a psionic char for OSM, but wanted to play a rogue of some sort.

Also, a question - I would, if you would allow it, take a level of Aristocrat, having it as my first level. She would be the daughter of some minor noble, or something suitable - not enough to make a huge social impact, but just so that she is (supposed to be) a member of an "upper class". I would gladly have the Hit Points for that be reduced to d6 or d4, as you see fit, without any bonuses or whatever for reduced hit points.

It fits in with a character concept I'm interested in trying out. If you don't allow it, that works fine, as well.

Charlotte Kalaharven
Human Female
Psion4 (Shaper), or
Aristocrat1/Psion3 (Shaper)
Str: 11 (--)
Dex: 14 (+2)
Con: 13 (+1)
Int: 16 (+3)
Wis: 12 (+2)
Cha: 10 (--)

Let me "think out loud" here before I say yes or no.

The Aristocrat gives a d8 (which we could drop to a d6 to keep it in the campaign guidelines). Any alignment (ok). Lots of class skills, Knowledge (all) is really nice, a Read Lips is exclusive. Wildnerness Lore is kind of restricted to Druid/Ranger/Barbarian, but really I don't see anything game-breaking about the skills. They are also a 4x skill class, which is second-best of the base classes.

The Aristocrat is proficient in the use of all simple and martial weapons and with all types of armor and shields.... that's pretty hefty. Of the other d6/d4 non-PrCs, I can't think of one that grants anything over medium and only a few grant shield. It also has good Will saves. One level is +2.

The downside is a +0 BAB and always being one level behind everyone else as a caster/manifester unless they also multiclass.

My final answer is: sure, if you drop it to a d6 instead of a d8. UNLESS anyone else objects anonymously, in which case I'll retract my qualified yes.

If you merely want to have an aristocratic background, that's fine as any class.

I hope that's fair,
Greg

<Jeremy looks around at all the masterwork bows....>

Archers----LOOSE!

We'll have to make sure to have someone invisible scouting ahead that can give us advance notice of when baddies are upfront. That many bows are just too fun to waste topping a rise and being 35 feet away from 4 greedy ogres.

As for why I saved money, 3300/2= 1650, not even enough for a magical weapon or a ring of protection. I'll have to hope that I can find a willing wizard and use my winning ways to haggle him down a bit and get something commissioned... Oh well. :)

Heh, sorry about the money shortfall. It'll all work out in the wash. I thought I'd encourage the purchase of expendable items, rather than putting all your magical eggs in one nicer basket.

Heh heh, actually i plan on being within 30' of the target myself...

As for magic, heck I've 2 "magic" items... Arrows and Mithral Chain... The rest will come when i loot the Headmasters Study, err, find some one willing to part with some cash to bask in my presence (like good looking rich Ladies, lookin for a thrill-Heh).

On that note Arana Perivai your gonna steal my heart... you rebel you...

That's eight solid replies with only some final tweaking necessary.

I need to get more finalization from Gnomeworks and a few details (spells) for Perivai.

Lichtenhart, Tokiwong, kaboom and Dalamar need to submit characters or get bumped, but it doesn't look like there's a race, lol. (Dalamar and Gnomeworks I know fairly well, so they get "advanced credit" because I know they'll follow through). No remaining openings unless someone opts out.

Meanwhile, I'll begin with those who are prepared before the day is out, pending some horrible computer/power catastrophe. The actual opening scene is set in Northport, before the winter semester opens.

Once your character is finalized here, leave the original character intact, and any updates should be done in further posts. That way if we make some sort of clerical error, it'll be easy to track down. In other words, a "final" character as your submission, then an "advanced" character which you update every time there's a change.

Before I start... any suggestions?

Greg

I was the second one to respond to your thread.

Oh Well......

Read the fine print from the Academy of Drell page, last post (as of this writing).

"That gives us 9. There's really room for one more, but I thought I'd give everyone who's already expressed interest a chance to sound off before it gets finalized. "

I've seen your suggestion of a character, but no character. There's still room for one more. Characters are being posted here, not over in the announcement thread. You've still an opportunity to get in the game because you expressed an interest. I just need the character submitted before you're added to the roster.

Sorry for any mixup,
Greg

novyet - Character looks fine, didn't see any glaring errors. Welcome aboard.

Greg

Thanks! If there are any errors you do come across, or anything that needs clarification, just let me know. :)
