Characters for the Academy of Drell

Thought I'd reconstruct the character design notes for TFO:

- Characteristic Array (15,14,13,12,11,10) [it's kind of like the default array, except no 8].

- Character must have a reason to be on the island of Drell where the premier Imperial Academy exists.

- Any class from The PHB and Psionics Handbook with no greater than a d6 in hit dice.

- 4th level to start.

- PHB races only.

- I think starting gold was standard from the DMG for PCs of 4th level, a maximum of 1/2 on any single item.

- hit points: Full at first level, then (1/2 die +1) each level thereafter. The Greyhawk method. Thus, d4 = 3; d6 = 4; d8 = 5; d10 = 6; d12 = 7.

Did I leave anything out?

Bio: Lyrique is the son of Elven parents who work at the Academy. From the first time his mother took him inside he has been in love with it. He showed Bardic potential from an early age. He has shown a special talent that the teachers at the academy have been studying. He can “sing the magic to life” in things (his feats are actually a strange talent he has). All He has to do is sing to an object and it will sometimes work for him of it’s own accord.
One day one of the instructors (you chose who) was studying a lesser artifact called the Whip of Tannon. Lyr (as his friends call him) was entranced. He begged to be allowed to sing to the whip and the instructors decided to allow it. Lyr sang for 50 minutes and then the whip started moving of its own accord. It started to unravel a part of itself and fashioned a new smaller whip from itself. Lyr felt that the whip was to be his as a thank you from the Whip of Tannon.
Lyrique now is obsessed with finding and singing to as many artifacts as he can.

Lyrique’s new whip:
." He reaches into his copious belt pouch and uncoils a whip dagger, the point sheathed in a red leather scabbard.

"It's a lovely piece I spent some time on, a bit heavy, but hard hitting. The hide is a quadruple-wrapped strip of displacer pelt and the hilt is allegedly Olyphant tusk. That part I didn't make." He holds it out; elaborate scrimshaw of leaping sharks engraved into the handle stand out sharply against the plain lacquered pommel.

Masterwork Mighty (STR 18) Whip Dagger, Adamantium, +1 to hit and damage.

His mother was a historian, and his father a librarian, but Mortimer wanted a more active approach to his field of study. Archeology (sometimes bordering on grave robbing) became his profession, and lead him to the Academy, along with a glowing (and rather inaccurate) letter of introduction from his father. The Academy's library is what drew him to Drell, but he's also following some more martial pursuits, having learnt that sometimes you need to fight to keep your finds.

Mortimer stands 5' 11" tall. His blonde hair is cut short, and usually somewhat muddy. He wears practical clothing, having little use or time for frills, favouring dark blues and browns. He tends to come across as brash and over-confident to those he doesn't know, or considers may be a potential rival, but in truth Mortimer is a quiet, studious man.

[EDITS: 30/10/03 - Edited to add XP and equipment gained since joining game.]

Updated my character: Named him (good start :)), and added some descriptive text. I think Mortimer Stratum is ready to roll...
