Charlie Jade 16/04/05: Pilot (Spoilers)

Gab

First Post
Anybody watch the premiere of Charlie Jade? I figure since the premiere was on a Canadian channel, that not many Americans watched it?

My thoughts on it:

It's definately different Sci-Fi. The first half-hour of the premiere was a depressing look into a depressing world (alphaverse). It seemed like that first half-hour was just there to show us how depressing alphaverse is. However, the show did pick up after that. But still, after the two-hour premiere, I was left wanting more. Seemed like the premiere only introduced the basic characters and the three parallel worlds. I was left with a "what next?" feeling. Like they'd need a 3-hour premiere to fully get us interested in it.

The show premiered last night. AFAIK, 17 episodes have been produced, of a 20-episode first season.

It's a joint Canadian-South African production.

I have no idea what the lifespan is for Canadian-produced shows. The Collector is another Canadian-produced show, and it's in its second season of a full 4 season order.

I taped it and plan on sitting down and giving it a good watch this week. That being said, I did catch the first 15 or so minutes and it had a very "Canadian" look about it, if you know what I mean -- my fellow canucks should (odd very TV-looking production values, staccato dialogue, etc. :) Still, it was definitely interesting enough to merit a chance.
