Charm Person?

In the discription:

"An affected creature never obeys suicidal or obviously harmful orders, but a charmed fighter, etc.. hold off a dragon for a little while, etc..."

Now, the question is,
If a charmed person is ordered, or directed to remove thier weapons/armor and submit to being shackled, would this break the spell?


My stance is yes since chaining one up puts you at the near-complete mercy of your captors...

What I always do is figure how I would react if one of my friends asked me to do what is being asked. If one of my friends asked me to remove all arms and armor so I could be tied up? Errr... no.

I think rvalle has the right of it. The spell makes you think the caster is a trusted friend. If the request is something you wouldn't do for your best friends (I sure as hell would not let my best friend tie me up in real life and have probably never played a PC who would), it won't work.

Right. It's a question of context. Would you trust a good friend to put you in shackles if the situation were otherwise unthreatening and he said that he just wanted "to see if you could work your way out of them"? Would you take off your armor if a trusted friend said, "take that off and relax a while, I'll get you a beer"?
Charm Person is a tricky spell. If a player is being overly opposed to the requests of the "trusted friend and ally" charmer, I crack down. If they have shown every inclination of being able to accept the advice of fellow PCs in the game and balk at someone who should also fit the same profile of trust, that's a problem.
PCs who are always played as being very untrusting or disagreeable are generally another matter.

To put it another way, would you let a known dangerous psycho tie you up if she was hot?

BTW, "yes" is a perfectly acceptable answer. I'm just trying to point out that not everyone has the same priorities.

OK, so if the player has prevented the rest of the party from pursuing the caster; thus removing the caster from harm. Then following the caster (he is a trusted friend in trouble after all), how would you rule the situation.....
