As I promised Buzz, I will run a Darwin's World event. Also, I have had a previous dialogue with RPG Objects about running a “Living” Darwin's World so if I use the CGD as a starting point, I might be able to generate some official prize support.
Darwin's World? Really? I'd love to play that! I'm running an event this time (yes, Buzz, Trev and I are going to run a "compete against another table" tournament event), so I hope we run in different time slots! :)

Be An INTERPLANETARY SPY!

Episode 1: Courts Martial

United Nations Interplanetary Police Headquarters said:
To: ALL AVAILABLE LEVEL 1 FIELD AGENTS, PHOBOS
From: ISP-HQ 0.781870.7

BEGIN TRANSMISSION

This mission is CODE YELLOW.

Welcome Spy, and congratulations on completing your basic training.

CURRENT SITUATION:

1. Riots incited on Mars by rebel insurgents are increasing in both intensity and frequency. Intelligence reports that a full-scale rebellion is imminent.

2. The Martian Royal family has been assassinated via remotely detonated bombs planted throughout the royal dining room.

3. An anonymous message to our field office on Phobos indicates that the King's cousin, Baron Quinton Vanderkar may have escaped the attack alive and has gone into hiding.

MISSION OBJECTIVES:

1. Locate Baron Vanderkar.

2. Escort Baron Vanderkar to the Interpol field headquarters on Phobos.

NOTES:

A United Nations Military Task Force is being assembled on earth to stage a counter-coup against the Martian Rebels. As the sole remaing heir to the Martian throne, Baron Vanderkar would be invaluable both to legitimately restore the Martian Royal Court and as a rallying point for the loyal populace. It is imperative that he be recovered alive and in good health.

Report with all due haste to Phobos HQ for field assignment activation and equipment requisitioning.

Good Luck.

This mission is CODE YELLOW.

END TRANSMISSION

Great! Consider yourself officially my first unofficially player, besides Buzz. :D

When I said we should think d20 first, that doesn't mean we need to be exclusive. I've certainly enjoyed much of the non-d20 offerings at gameday, and hope to continue to do so in the future. It was just a reminder that if we are hoping to pull in more EN Worlders, it will probably require more than a single D&D game, and one other d20 game to entice them, such as at the previous gameday.

It will lie in the hands of the DMs as to what games are run at Gameday, and while I hope that we will have plenty to offer those that have previously chosen to come less often, it is not my intention to turn this into a d20 exclusive gameday. Ultimately, those who want more d20 games at gameday are welcome to DM a game of their own, after all.

Well, it's during Origins, so i'm booked. However, just a thought: i've always seen convention games as the perfect opportunity to run/play precisely those games you normally don't get a chance at.* Now, for some, the change-of-pace desired is one of setting/style/mood. But for others, that change of pace also includes system. So i'd actually expect there to be a significant desire among the crowd at EnWorld for non-D20 System stuff, precisely because they mostly play D20 System. The average EnWorlder probably can get their group to try almost any D20 System game, but might have more trouble getting other things to fly, so what better place than a mini-convention?

* My usual strategy for playing games at conventions is:
1: look for games i've never heard of
2: failing that, look for games that are new, or not yet available
3: failing that, look for games that i've always wanted to try, but have been leary of buying becasue i've never read/tried them
4: failing that, look for games i own but haven't had a chance to play
5: failing that, catch a seminar, hit the dealer room, or eat something. There's just no point, IMHO, in playing a game i can play at home at a convention--at home i know the GM/players will be good; at a convention it's always a bit of a gamble.

I tend to do this as well. However, of the few complaints we've ever gotten about the gamedays, "More D&D" is not uncommon.
