Curt also brought up another thing to consider. If it is an issue of sound level/attendance numbers, we might as well as fill every table in the place (9+Private room) because no matter what, those tables are going to get filled whether it is by us or by a bunch of "walk in" mini-guys or card players, or whatever.
I can understand this, though it reads a bit like, "Well, since there's a potential for the room to get overcrowded and uncomfortable, we might as well schedule it to be overcrowded and uncomfortable." :) Ten events per slot just seems insane; I don't think the little snack table even really counts.

Since we've never really done eight (due to TB needing to cancel last time), why don't we try eight this time around and see what happens. If it goes well, and people are all like, "We could have done nine!", then we'll try nine next time. Alternately, if things really suck just at eight, then we know seven is the limit.

Cool?

As for three slots, I'm vetoing that. Huzzah!

Nope. I was asked to address the issue. From now on Curt and Buzz need to communicate on issues like snack, pop, prizes and whatnot. I won't be in the middle of that anymore. I don't care for the negative feedback I seem to be attracting.
I've addressed the snack issue in the past, and will continue to do so. This time, rather than suggest, I'd really like to just plain outlaw snacks. All that ends up happening is we have a table that needs severe cleaning by the end the first slot. A lose-lose situation for GP.

That said, it has become more of a "swap meet" than a "swag table". I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but if that's what's become, then maybe that's what we should treat it like.

IF we did do away with the Swag Thing, we could run the morning slot at 9:30 to 2:30; break for lunch from 2:30 to 3:30; and run the afternoon even from 3:30 to 8:30. Same amount of time for games, nice 5-hour sessions. Plus the last game ending a bit earlier lets folks who rely on the train to get home.
I'm in general agreement with you guys. It's been a long time since we've consistently gotten prize support from publishers.

...on the other hand, I can say from personal experience that I wouldn't mind the break being just a touch longer. I always feel rushed while shopping, or chatting with folks and then the Prize Table starts up and I don't have time to shop, etc.
I often feel this way as well.

How about we eliminate the prize table this time around, period? Attendees can then swap games if they want to, piling stuff on whatever table is going unused. It'll be something that happens in the background. Otherwise, the focus is squarely on gaming and socializing.

Given that, I like FCWesel's proposed schedule, though I also sympathize with Ninjacat. What if we split the difference and went with 4.5 hour slots as far as the schedule is concerned? So, 9:30am-2:00pm and 3:30pm-8pm, but with an unspoken assumption of a 30-minute "cushion" for games that run long, or for people who don't need time to shop.

EDIT: Actually, that sort of short-changes the morning slot. What if we just leave the schedule as-is, but the 30 minutes form the prize drawing is now part of the lunch break?

Anyway...

The only thing I would miss about the prize drawing is that it's an excuse to round up all the attendees and say "Thanks for coming!"

Okay, there's now an eighth event available in each slot. Anyone willing to step up? FCWesel, you want your events back?

Hey Buzz, I am more then happy to step up and fill the slots, but let's give it a week or so for some other folk to find the thread and pipe in. If by WED of next week no one has filled them up, I'll do so happily.

Speaking as to the time issue...I like the 5 hour slots, to be honest.

Eliminating the table sounds cool to me.

1.5 hours just seems WAY too long to me...but hey, it's up to you Buzz.

You can still stop the room before the 2nd slot and thank everyone, you don't need the auction for that!

...so I can include links to the PCs you have. Just give me a URL, or else give me the files and I'll put them up on the Gameday blog.

Ah, I see. Okay, that works fine, but what I meant was just a LIST of the characters, since some of them have secrets, etc. I was thinking of just doing a post on the thread, with a link to the event description in the initial post starting the sign-up thread, like last time. (That separate post is _here_.) I wanted to do pretty much the same thing, it's the same characters being offered, but Ah-HAH. Nevermind. I simply edited the original post (so maybe the old GD17 thread looks a touch funny now on page five, but eh), so if you cut and paste the above "_here_" link to a "view the available characters" line in my event description, all is well. *g*

ETA: Crap, except if someone clicks QUOTE on that post, they end up adding to the end of the GD17 thread, not posting to the current sign-up thread (since it doesn't even exist yet, heh.) Foop. Anyway, that was my IDEA; what would work best? Or I suppose I could type them up somewhere else and throw a link at you later, is that easiest?
