I can say that I disagree, and am disappointed in the reasoning by which you've made your decision, but I'll leave it at that. You've got a right to make that decision, and evidently, nothing anyone says will change that.

Actually, "He's not at all preachy..." wasn't a bad start.

Look, I could pick any number of right-of-center authors-- let's pick a real firebrand, say Ann Coulter-- and suggest that her latest work of fiction was the best thing since Shakespeare (a trait in common, apparently, with China Mieville).

And I would not be surprised (or insulted) in the least when more than half the people here would choose NOT to buy and read that book, no matter how good it was, or whether or not it had the least thing to do with her politics.
