It all sounded reasonable till the part about: gotta hurry and marry before he changes his mind........that just sounds, bad

I decided to get married quickly so my husband to be doesn't have a chance to change his mind.

You might remind her that there's always time to "change your mind." It's just a question of whether it involves divorce.

On the other hand, your biggest problem with the guy seems to be the language he speaks. Why is that?

Hmm. Maybe she was drunk when she sent the e-mail.

Perhaps you should also have a heart-to-heart with a few of your friends, instead of just posting this on a public messageboard, there, Sparky.

Thanks People. I needed some perspective. This was dropped on me and I'm at work. All my co-workers are just telling be the bad things that are happening.

Not his language... I'm convinced from what little my sisters have told me that he just wants a green card. to become a citizen. and is using my sister to do this.

Kill the guy; make it look like an accident. Tell you sister that the Fates must have intervened.

Seriously, dude, that's F'd up. I knew probably within 6 weeks of dating my (then girlfriend, now my wife) that I was in love, and was going to marry her. I would try to understand your sister's motivations for wanting to marry so quickly. How old is this girl?

You can only hope.

In any case (and remember, this is just ME talking here), I'd say that you try to talk her out of it. If she need to marry the guy before he changes his mind, this clearly indicates that there can only be trouble down the line, perhaps very soon.

I see it as thus.

A - she wants to marry the guy RIGHT AWAY BEFORE HIS CHANGES HIS MIND

B - the guy isn't a U.S. citizen

C - getting married to a U.S. citizen makes YOU a U.S. citizen

D - Most non-U.S. citizens in the US who can't speak the lingo would like to BECOME U.S. citizens

A+D = for this guy, staying a non-citizen seems to be more attractive than marrying her.

heck, maybe she's just trying to scam him. does the guy have money? if so, THIS IS A SIGN OF TROUBLE! if not, someone in this equation is insane. perhaps using some powerful hallucinagenics.

has she told anyone besides you?

My wife was married once before - to a guy from Sweden. He ended up cheating on her, and was overall very bad to her. She was young (in college) and naive (she admits to that). He swept her off her feet. Eventually, after she found out about the cheating, she divorced him. He got screwed (since her father is a lawyer), but they had crap for assets anyway.

But, the point is, it's obvious that he just used her to get his citizenship. I would strongly advice your sister to make sure she understands what she is doing, and make sure it is for the right reasons.

47 years?

Well, I think someone that age knows what she's doing.

Just sit back and relax, cause there's not much you can do. Better to support her, than to go against her. Applies to about all women ;)
