Wow. All the hate on for cicadas in their mating season. Let's just hope the greater powers of the Universe are nicer to you folks when you're out looking for dates...

Dislike. I don't hate cicadas. I'll let them mate all they want. Just not in front of me.

I realize that, not being native to a part of the country infested by cicadas, I might not be thoroughly acquainted with them, but I'm surprised by the hatred they're inspiring. Their buzzing strikes me as more soothing then anything. And I admire a species that has evolved to only emerge every 17 years in order to mate. They're just part of Nature's Glory. Or whatever.

Call me crazy, but I kinda like them.

Yeah. You haven't seen your dog puke from eating them or had them smash right into your stomach because they fly with all the grace of a brain-damaged raccoon on crystal meth, or watched them molt. *shudders*

Not bad really, taste like grubs. When we were kids we tied string and used them like little airplanes, around and around they went.
