OOG: [sblock]Rurik would need 6000gp more (for a total of 8000gp) to make the spiked chain a +1 flaming spiked chain. [/sblock]
[sblock=nimisgod and 'Nock]I've edited my post (one sentence) to leave it at a +1 (non-flaming) spiked chain. If 'Nock could do that with his posts, that should be the end of the page of sblocks... :)[/sblock]

[sblock=dpdx & the judges]OK, I've updated my Inn character message. ;) I'll add the weapon to my character sheet & then it's off to spike some ghoulies! Ahem - you know what I mean. :o

Thanks again, dpdx! :)

Eskon looks at the excited Eusebius and his gift. He smiles and drinks deeply from his cup.

"There must be some story behind that, I imagine. You seem like a true adventurer. All I've gotten in my brief experience is a few potions, some tomato sauce stains, and a good amount of burns from scalding hot cheese."
"Scalding ... cheese? That sounds intriguing. Please forgive me for not responding to you sooner. As you saw, I was ... distracted. And let me introduce my bondsister: this is Raanemunde of the Axebender Clan, sister to Rurik Demonbane. Raanemunde, this is Eskon, Paladin of Hyrag Shining One.

"I journeyed with Rurik most recently. A valiant warrior and a true heart. He it was who crafted this fine weapon" - here his fingers rest lightly and lovingly on the box in front of him. "He it is who has named me bondbrother to him and his Clan. For one whose whole family was lost, that is a gift beyond price!"

"Now, let us celebrate, while we await new opportunities to lay waste the dark forces of the world!"

"Raanemunde, tell me of yourself. What are your hopes? Now that you are here, do you adventure, or are you soon to return to Hearth and Hall?"

"And Eskon, I long to hear more of your encounters of the cheesy kind!" The priest smiles encouragingly at both his companions, basking in a happiness he has not felt for a long time now.

Eskon grins bashfully.

"Very recently, I was charged with the task of escorting a cook to the city for this tournament going on right now. She was the niece, if I recall, to a wizard. There was a fight with what I can only describe as a calzone golem. It was messy. Delicious, but messy."

Eskon points to one of the tomato stains on his pants.

"Interesting bit of work, but I'm looking for a more substantial job for my next go at it."

Eskon sips at his ale, wondering what the next adventure will bring.

Eusebius' eyes widen at the mention of the "calzone golem".

"Astounding! The world is truly full of wonders."

Then he grins, and leans forward confidentially. "You know, you really ought to tell your tale to a bard. I'm sure a truly talented performer could come up with a suitably saucy tale to tell."

Just a NPC passing through...

A man climb down the stairs. He is wearing the usual traveler's outfit, in brown and green. He nods at Joe, who salute him. He walk through the common room without much attention to anyone and leaves the Inn.

"Scores of jesters are roaming the streets of Orussus, begging for work," Jack groans to the others at his table, "and yet we get stuck with the likes of him."

"See the good side, your drink are free. I start to think that relaxing here might not have been a good idea." Opale looks at Venus who is at the bar, filling her dirnk. "What do you think of her?"

"Ah, you do me kindness, Brother Eusebius. Other than this errand, I am due back at the Great Hall in three days' time, which means I must leave on the morrow. I shall be taking my rest here at the Red Dragon.

As for me, for now I am a student, nothing more. I have years to go before my clan recognizes me as an adult, so in part, this journey Rurik has entrusted to me is part of, to borrow a term in our dialect, Keshmat' 'pa barot. Its loose translation is 'Rite of Passage,' but it determines and governs so many things in Clan Axebender.

For instance, I may not choose my path until I have completed the Keshmat'. I may not take a mate, nor may I stand in defense of my Hall.

But I must bore you with such talk of childhood in the Hall.

Tell me about your service to this god, Hyrag. Rurik leaves much out that does not concern bravery in battle.
